About The Position

This role is responsible for overseeing the movement of pullets, conducting field vaccinations and administering medication, and ensuring hen productivity. It may also involve collecting and transporting eggs and tracking hatchability. Decisions made in this position can significantly impact the department, its objectives, and the immediate work unit. The work requires applying a variety of procedures, policies, and standards, demanding moderate analytical skills to interpret data and guidelines for moderately complex problems. Problem-solving primarily involves gathering, compiling, and sorting information at the work unit or department level. The supervisor operates with limited oversight, enjoying periods of autonomy and general review, and has the discretion to choose techniques and processes within established broad objectives. The position may also involve leading or supervising other employees periodically. Internal communication occurs weekly with professional or supervisor-level colleagues, focusing on routine information exchange. Daily external communication with clerical or technical staff requires tact and cooperation for tasks such as scheduling, problem resolution, and information gathering.

Requirements

• Typically requires a Bachelors degree in a related field.
• Typically requires greater than 2 up to 5 years of DIRECTLY RELATED experience.
• Current driver's license and good driving record.

Responsibilities

• Inspects farms for compliance with contract and cooperative agreement standards.
• Advises farmers on development programs to assist in producing quality poultry products.
• Conducts safety meetings.
• Coordinates and/or handles the movement of pullets.
• Performs field vaccinations and/or administers medications.
• Weighs, handles and fleshes pullets, hens and males.
• Tracks and analyzes hen productivity.
• May collect and transport eggs and track hatchability.
• May schedule and train other employees.
