About The Position

The Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) is an independent nonprofit organization authorized by Congress in 2010. Its mission is to fund research that will provide patients, their caregivers and clinicians with the evidence-based information needed to make better-informed healthcare decisions. PCORI is committed to continually seeking input from a broad range of stakeholders to guide its work. The Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) is offering a Spring Internship to a qualified candidate who will support the Public Policy and Government Relations team. This paid internship is a part time, temporary employment opportunity averaging 30 hours per week for an undergraduate or postgraduate student. PCORI does not provide housing for out-of-town residents. All applicants must be eligible to work in the US and located in the US. The Public Policy and Government Relations department is seeking an intern who will have the opportunity to: Participate in a project that helps the PPGR team monitor and engage with Congress and Federal Agencies and track federal health policies. Gain exposure to Congressional procedure and Congressional composition and can expect to come away from their time with PCORI with increased fluency on Congress and Federal health policy. They will help the team monitor and engage with Congress and Federal Agencies and track federal health policies by attending Congressional hearings on health issues, attending meetings with Congressional staff, and managing meeting preparation, materials, and follow-up. Build skills in Congressional procedure, health policy, relationship-building and management, gathering data, creating graphics, drafting slides, writing, and organizing programming and meeting materials. Requirements

  • Strong organization skills
  • Willingness to be flexible, juggling multiple tasks and working from various locations as needed
  • Strong writing, Excel, and PowerPoint skills
  • Strong emotional intelligence and the desire and ability to build relationships
  • Ideal candidates will be pursuing their education in any field with a strong interest in health policy and Congressional relations/procedure.
