About The Position

This is a professional position that reports directly to the Research and Regulation Unit Manager. This position is responsible for assisting in the development, management and administration of the Division’s financial and insurance education, and outreach programs, and preparing written communication and correspondence and administrative support to the Division’s Disaster Response preparations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience as a graphic artist.
  • Documented experience in publication/web design (online or in print).
  • Experience in InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop.
  • Knowledge of basic graphic design principles; must have graphic design experience.
  • Knowledge of various methods of data collection and analysis, and the ability to collect, evaluate and analyze data and feedback to develop alternative recommendations.
  • Knowledge of basic graphic design principles.
  • Ability to be well organized and determine work priorities and ensure proper completion of work assignments.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally.
  • Ability to research, write and edit with attention to grammar, spelling and punctuation.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and partnerships with internal staff and external partners.
  • Ability to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
  • Ability to conduct fact-finding research, solve problems and make decisions; and ability to work both within a team and independently.
  • Skill in use of personal computers and laptops.
  • Skill in use of graphics software, i.e., Adobe Creative Cloud including InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Premier & Audition; web software, i.e., Sitefinity and Brightcove; and visual task, marketing, tracking and content collaboration software, i.e., SharePoint, MS suite, OneNote, Planner, Smartsheet and Sendgrid.

Nice To Haves

  • Applicants who can demonstrate experience with Adobe products (Premiere, After Effects and Audition), MS Suite (specifically Planner, OneNote, SharePoint, Excel), and with web design products (Smartsheet, Sitefinity, Sengrid, Brightcove).
  • Knowledge of ADA standards for accessible design.
  • Applicants who are fluent in English and Spanish (oral and written).

Responsibilities

  • Research and assists in the development, management and administration of comprehensive financial literacy information used to educate consumers about insurance and financial-related matters, including developing educational videos, tip sheets, content for online and print publications, etc., and tracks consumer interaction for program effectiveness.
  • Assists in the development and implementation of this information to provide through the Division’s website, social media accounts, outreach materials, etc.
  • Ensures the financial literacy information is compliant with applicable statutory and regulatory requirements.
  • Evaluates, designs and recommends program updates to website content as well as to insurance educational booklets, brochures, and checklists to assist consumers with their insurance related matters.
  • Assists in identifying and developing consumer protection and awareness initiatives.
  • Ensures that complicated insurance-related information is organized in a way that is accessible to the public.
  • Provides technical assistance in the implementation of and preparation of disaster assistance by monitoring inventory levels of educational materials, signage and supplies used for disaster assistance deployment.
  • Recommends purchases to management to replenish low inventory and/or recommends changes based on need and analysis from past deployments.
  • Distributes information on consumer awareness and protection activities to appropriate sources.
  • Serves as liaison with other DFS Divisions regarding public education requests and media activities.
  • Serves as a member of the DFS disaster response team and in that capacity may be required, on short notice, to perform duties in support of disaster relief efforts.
  • Performs other related duties and responsibilities as directed.
