About The Position

Under direct supervision, perform basic clerical duties. Houston Community College (HCC) is composed of 14 Centers of Excellence and numerous satellite centers that serve the diverse communities in the Greater Houston area by preparing individuals to live and work in an increasingly international and technological society. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • 1 year experience in an office environment preferred
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Able to communicate courteously and effectively with staff and students with different academic and socio-economic backgrounds and disabilities.
  • Able to alphabetize.

Responsibilities

  • Answer telephone, handling multiple lines
  • Handle routine office inquiries
  • Use word processing software
  • Assist with on-campus registration
  • Operate office equipment such as computers, copier, fax, typewriter, and calculator
  • Refer students to appropriate person or department
  • File correspondence and other records/documents
  • Type correspondence and other documents from notes, copies, or rough drafts
  • Provide support to other areas as needed
  • Maintain inventory of office supplies, orders maintenance/repairs for office equipment
