This Psychologist position is a behavioral health provider who works in a consultative role, providing behavioral health interventions to pediatric patients and their families within the hematology/oncology department within Randall Children’s Hospital supporting infants, children, adolescents, and their families. The Psychologist is a fully integrated member of the clinical provider team that assesses, evaluates, diagnoses, and treats emotional, cognitive, and behavioral issues or disorders affecting patients within Randall Childrens hematology/oncology department. The Psychologist helps address a broad spectrum of behavioral health needs of the child and adolescent patient population within this specialty clinic. Their goal is to aid in early identification and provide problem focused interventions that promote wellness and relieve symptoms. Behavioral issues that are addressed may be related to physical or mental health conditions. They provide assessment, management, and triage of psychological and social problems in the clinic patient population. This position requires advanced level skill in delivering evidence-based interventions targeted to improve overall health for patients with a variety of emotional and behavioral problems. The work includes meeting with patients individually and/or families for an assessment and then providing recommendations to the medical care team to enhance the patient's care plan. When indicated, the Psychologist may also work with patients for several subsequent sessions to provide on-going skills training and coaching to improve health and functioning. The Psychologist also supports helping patients, who require services not provided in the RCH clinics, to make a smooth transition to care with community partners.
