About The Position

Come join a growing multidisciplinary team of designers and engineers designing the next generation nuclear power plant. The PSA Engineer III will be responsible for leading development of PRA modules and/or associated thermal-hydraulic analyses that support risk-informed design and licensing activities. Responsibilities include development of Level 1 and Level 2 PRA models for internal and external events during full power and low power / shutdown operating modes. Engineers with a thermal-hydraulic specialization will lead RELAP5-3D and MELCOR modeling to simulate core and containment response for severe accident scenarios that inform PRA quantifications. The Engineer III will interface with the design team to communicate and implement PSA insights, mentor junior staff, and ensure consistency and quality of all PSA deliverables. Requirements

  • B.S degree in nuclear engineering, mechanical engineering, or closely related field from an accredited college or university
  • Familiarity with thermal-hydraulic behavior of light water reactors (LWRs)
  • Expertise with industry codes and methods associated with PSA calculations and thermal-hydraulic modeling (CAFTA, SAPHIRE, RiskSpectrum, RELAP5-3D, MELCOR)
  • 6-10 years of experience in PSA and/or thermal-hydraulic safety analysis within the nuclear industry
  • Experience with PSA specialty areas such as external hazards (fire, flood, high winds, seismic) or low power/shutdown modes
  • Comprehensive knowledge of PSA regulatory requirements and ASME/ANS PRA Standards
  • Excellent technical writing, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • Eligible to work under 10 CFR Part 810
