About The Position

The Department of Emergency Medicine at the University of Utah is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Research Scientist to join our team within the Johnson and Hoareau lab. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge translational research in the fields of trauma, cardiac arrest, and stroke. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in managing large animal translational experiments across the shared laboratory developing new devices and therapeutics. Requirements

  • Requires a Bachelor’s degree in a related area of assignment or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience) and 4 – 6 years of progressively more responsible management experience.
  • Background knowledge of assigned department’s area of specialization in order to analyze, plan and draw conclusions for recommendations to superiors.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills in planning and directing employees and processes in order to effectively monitor and develop subordinates and to ensure the smooth operation of department.
  • Completion of provided supervisory training within one year of employment may be required.
  • This position is patient-sensitive and must fulfill all associated requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee the execution of large animal translational experiments in accordance with study protocols and research objectives.
  • Collaborate closely with principal investigators to develop and implement experimental designs, ensuring the successful execution of projects.
  • Coordinate and communicate with research staff, animal care personnel, and other relevant stakeholders to ensure the smooth progression of studies.
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret experimental data, and prepare detailed reports and presentations for dissemination.
  • Contribute to the development of research proposals, grant applications, and scientific publications.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in translational research and animal models related to trauma, cardiac arrest, and stroke.
  • Ensure compliance with ethical and regulatory guidelines pertaining to animal research.
