About The Position

Corvid Technologies is seeking a creative, hands-on technician/engineer to join our Strike Systems team based in Mooresville, NC. This team specializes in end-to-end high-tech munitions research, working technology issues from design-to-prototype-to-test for large prime contractors as well as working directly for DoW and other government agencies. This position be the creative developer and fabricator for electrical and mechanical components related to testing next-generation weapon technology. The successful candidate will play a critical role in conception, development and fabrication of functional electronic and mechanical prototypes and devices, assisting in testing prototype munitions in Corvid's ballistics and energetics lab as well as offsite facilities. The position will require an ability to work independently but also collaborate across technology areas to help develop the best solutions. Candidate should be comfortable simultaneously supporting multiple prototyping projects that require creativity and flexibility to deliver hardware-oriented solutions for technical challenges. Candidate must bring a creative mind, strong technical foundation, and the passion to bring ideas & concepts to reality.

Requirements

  • Candidate must be a US Citizen and meet ability to obtain (and maintain) a Secret Clearance
  • Position requires at least a High School Diploma - but all levels of education will be considered (all levels of education will be considered)
  • An ability to travel is required, typically short, planned trips to test facilities to assist the offsite test team
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills, typically involving prototyping or engineering fixes for mechanical related systems (ordnance or similar technologies is a plus)

Nice To Haves

  • Formal EOD training or experience
  • Broad mix of hands-on experience: machining, metal working, carpentry, and/or similar fields
  • Experience operating gas or powder ballistic guns
  • Knowledge, experience, and/or certification in hazardous materials handling and safety

Responsibilities

  • Assist in fabricating various prototype structures and devices, including both electrical and mechanical components/systems
  • Assist in setup, execution, and data collection for energetics testing efforts
  • Maintain a culture of safety, following protocols and ensuring proper handling of materials
  • Collaborate with engineers and other team members to achieve project goals
  • Produce rapid concepts and prototypes, applying creative thinking & technical ingenuity to deliver "products"
