About The Position

PROPs (Promoting Recovery from the Onset of Psychosis) is an early intervention program for young people, ages 15 to 25, experiencing a first episode of psychosis. PROPs is a wraparound program that uses the team-based model of Coordinated Specialty Care for first episode psychosis (FEP). In addition to using the Coordinated Specialty Care model, PROPs works closely with other Journey programs, such as the GROW program through its use of Comprehension Community Services (CCS). PROPs operates as a multidisciplinary team to support consumers with everyday life skills and needs, as well as medication management and an array of other services designed to support consumers’ recovery. The PROPs program staff works as a team within the clinic/office setting and may provide one-on-one services to consumers out in the community or in their home. Requirements

  • Must have excellent verbal communication skills
  • Must have excellent problem-solving skills
  • Must work well with diverse populations and be able to demonstrate cultural humility
  • Must have understanding of case management and mental health recovery principles
  • Must be open to learning about and working with individuals with first episode psychosis (FEP)
  • Should have a valid driver’s license and willingness/ability to work in the community
  • Knowledge of local community resources
  • Required to have either education or experience working in social work, psychology, mental health, or other health and human services field. (Both experience and education combined is preferred)
  • Educational Requirements: Social Work, Psychology, Mental Health Counseling.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license, a favorable driving record, adequate insurance (per WI law) and access to a vehicle with willingness to use it for work (i.e., transporting consumers.
  • All potential candidates will need to successfully pass the Background Information Disclosure (BID) for entity employees and contractors. Wisconsin’s Caregivers Law requires background, and criminal checks are required by the Department of Health Services and Wis. Stat. 50.065(6)(c) and Wis. Admin Code § DHS 12.05(4)
  • Requires driving, sitting, standing, light lifting, bending, and reaching; and the ability to use and operate standard office equipment, including computer, calculator, phone, printer, cell phone, facsimile, etc.
  • May include, filing, scanning, and/ or other program specific needs
  • PROPs team consults are currently held on Mondays and Fridays from 9-10:15AM. The PROPs Program Intern is expected to attend at least one of these as part of their weekly hours. A supervisor will communicate other relevant meeting times (e.g., support groups).

Responsibilities

  • Work one-on-one with consumers, either by identifying and sharing resources, or providing services to promote skill development
  • Design and/or assist with projects to enhance clinical workflow or improve treatment outcomes for consumers
  • Contribute ideas as part of team consults
  • Help track consumer data and outcomes
  • Participate in or help facilitate support groups for consumers or families.
  • Other administrative or supportive tasks, as needed.
