Ashtead Technology is recruiting for a technically minded Proposals Engineer to join our growing team in Houston. This is a dynamic role at the forefront of our Mechanical Solutions service line where your expertise will shape high-impact commercial estimates and winning proposals. You’ll play a pivotal part in transforming complex client requirements into compelling, technically robust, and commercially competitive submissions - driving success in a fast-paced, global industry while ensuring quality, profitability, and innovation at every stage. What you'll be doing: Take the lead on exciting new sales opportunities, reviewing client enquiries, collaborating with internal teams, and shaping the bid strategy to win work in competitive global markets. Build compelling, end-to-end commercial estimates, bringing together equipment, resources, subcontractors, and materials into smart, profitable solutions that fulfil the sales opportunity requirements. Generate high-quality technical and commercial proposals across mechanical and hydraulic deck and subsea equipment - ensuring every solutions are accurate and aligned with client needs and business capabilities. Engage directly with clients, clarifying requirements, supporting negotiations, and presenting solutions that secure new business and strengthen relationships. Work cross-functionally with engineering, operations, finance, and contracts teams to refine proposals on a cross regional basis. Drive opportunities through to success, leading handovers to project teams, incorporating client feedback, and maintaining high standards of compliance, quality, and professionalism throughout. What experience you'll bring: Engineering qualification in a Mechanical or related discipline or equivalent technical experience. Ability to understand equipment capabilities, develop technical solutions, and support proposal budgets. Previous experience within a sales, commercial, or proposals-related environment is preferred. IT literate with Microsoft Package and ERP system experience, additional experience with CRM Packages beneficial. Flexible with a determined and ambitious approach to securing new sales opportunities from the get go. Professional qualification in management beneficial.
