About The Position

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Director of Property Engineering to lead the engineering and maintenance operations across our portfolio of hotels and commercial properties. The ideal candidate will be MEP certified, with a deep understanding of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, and possess a proven track record in property engineering, preventative maintenance planning, budgeting, and bidding processes. This leadership role is responsible for ensuring operational efficiency, safety, and regulatory compliance while maintaining superior guest and tenant experiences across all assets.

Requirements

  • MEP Certification (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
  • Minimum 10+ years of progressive experience in building engineering and maintenance, with at least 5 years in a leadership or director-level role.
  • Proven experience in both hotel and commercial real estate environments is required.
  • Strong knowledge of building codes, safety standards, energy management systems, and sustainability practices.
  • Expertise in bidding, contract negotiation, and vendor management.
  • Proficient in using Building Management Systems (BMS), CMMS platforms, and project management tools.
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all engineering operations for a diverse portfolio including hotels and commercial office buildings.
  • Develop, implement, and manage comprehensive preventative maintenance programs to ensure optimal performance of building systems.
  • Supervise and support on-site property engineers and maintenance teams; provide guidance, training, and performance evaluations.
  • Lead capital improvement projects, system upgrades, and renovations from planning through execution.
  • Manage RFP and bidding processes for vendor contracts related to MEP systems, building upgrades, and maintenance services.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, including fire safety, HVAC, energy management, water conservation, and other environmental standards.
  • Collaborate with property managers, hotel general managers, and ownership groups to develop engineering budgets and long-term asset plans.
  • Evaluate and optimize building systems for energy efficiency and sustainability initiatives.
  • Maintain all engineering records, inspections, and documentation in accordance with company and regulatory requirements.
  • Respond promptly to emergency situations and system failures with appropriate solutions and leadership.
