About The Position

Are you seeking a career in Public Health? Summit County Public Health is looking for a Project Specialist . The Project Specialist provides organization, support, and implementation of public health program activities and services to promote optimal health for Summit County residents. The Project Specialist displays initiative and follow through in completing tasks; is reliable, mature, and adaptable; interacts successfully with the community and co-workers regardless of their social, ethnic, or religious status; complies with agency objectives, philosophy, and policies. Performs job duties under the regulations, policies, and procedures set forth by Summit County Public Health and outside agencies such as the County Fiscal Officer, Ohio Department of Health, and state and federal government. Performs any other duties as required for the efficient operation of Summit County Public Health. Obliges, as set forth by the Summit County Public Health Emergency Operations Plan and within the scope of their employment, to be available for emergency service during routine and non-routine hours of operation including 24/7/365 May be required to have medical clearance for respiratory protection or other personal protective equipment and may be exposed to inclement weather, extreme temperatures, unpleasant smells or odors, dust, dirt, fumes, airborne particles, pesticides, toxins, or caustic chemicals

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in nursing, dietetics, social work, public health, or related field
  • Must possess a minimum of 1-2 years related work experience.
  • Current valid Ohio driver's license, automobile availability and insurance coverage
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external customers.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions and work independently.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and interpret regulations.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and accurately both verbally and in writing.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the planning and implementation of Family Health initiatives and activities.
  • Research and establish best practices for the health of minorities with regards to policy, systems and environmental change in the sectors of social determinant of health
  • Coordinate organizational and community changes to enhance activities and education within the minority population.
  • Assists with the planning and implementation of Family Health Initiatives.
  • Administers grant components, including application processes, strategy implementation, grant documentation, and grant compliance.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of and ability to apply and promote public health principles and practices in public information writing, public speaking, teaching aids, and information design.
  • Research and apply best practices of public health activities.
  • Assess, plan and implement strategies to meet grant and/or program objectives.
  • Assists with the oversight, monitoring, and evaluation of program growth and outcomes.
  • Identifies program barriers and makes recommendations towards solutions.
  • Researches additional funding opportunities based on community needs.
  • Facilitates collaboration among varied community partners and participates in coalitions.
  • Maintains cooperative working relationships among public and agency participants.
  • Attends training programs to improve technical knowledge used in programs.
