Unlock Your Potential This is a unique opportunity to join MGAC’s Cultural and Museum team on a multi-year capital improvement project for a major Washington, DC museum, managing the planning, deinstallation, and reinstallation of a new permanent exhibit as part of a collaborative project team. While this role will be focused on one client over the next few years, this role offers a unique opportunity to join a team delivering some of the most prestigious museum projects in the country.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in construction project management with a thorough understanding of the building and design process.
  • Significant experience in the Cultural/Museum Sector
  • Construction management experience related to collection logistics, museum capital improvement projects, exhibits management or facility operations.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, problem solving, presentation, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Proficient in essential software applications, including MS Office, MS Project or Primavera P6, Adobe Acrobat or similar PDF tools (e.g., Bluebeam, Nitro).

Responsibilities

  • Participate as an active member of a team dynamic project managers in executing a complex, multi-phased program.
  • Responsible for project implementation of artifact deinstallation, artifact planning, team coordination and reinstallation of the permanent exhibit.
  • Support the procurement, contracting, and contract amendment process for third party contractors for project needs.
  • Experience with project management oversite, schedule management, logistics management, contract management, and project communications.
  • Responsible for monitoring progress in the field, schedule analysis, and quality control.
  • Opportunity to build trust with and have a direct interface with the museum collections team, curators, exhibit designers, architects, construction teams and client decision-makers.
  • Participate in high-level meetings, including strategic planning, budgeting, scheduling, initiation, procurement, execution, monitoring, and closeout phases of the project.
  • Oversee and prepare accurate project documentation for all phases of the project.
  • Advocate on behalf of the client during disputes, disagreements, modifications, or change orders.
  • Participate in tracking and processing invoices, purchase orders, and other financial commitments, exposures and obligations.
  • Maintain relationships with the wider construction industry, trade associates, vendors, and professional organizations.
