Collins Engineers, Inc. is looking for a motivated, self-starter to join our Norwood, Massachusetts, office as a Load Rating - Project Manager . This role will provide the opportunity to work on a variety of Bridge Load Ratings, Super Overweight Permit Analysis, and support other design and inspection projects. Typical Duties and Responsibilities: Independently performs moderately difficult engineering computations involving conventional engineering practices. Lead the planning, analysis, and delivery of bridge load rating and super overweight analysis projects in accordance with MassDOT, MBTA, RIDOT, RITBA, NHDOT standards, AASHTO LRFD, MBTA standards, and AREMA guidance. Manage project scopes, schedules, budgets, QA/QC processes, and team coordination. Serve as the primary client contact for contractors, MassDOT, MBTA, RIDOT, RITBA, NHDOT, municipalities, and stakeholders. Prepares complete engineering plans or reports. Guide project teams in load rating, analysis, and risk mitigation strategies. Uses computer assisted engineering and design software and equipment to prepare engineering and design documents. Is active in technical societies such as ASCE, AISC, AREMA, WTS, RAD BUG, etc. Responsible for moderately difficult engineering projects in field or office in accordance with plans and specifications. Participate in proposal writing, fee development, and client interviews. Works directly with clients. Responsible for project schedules and timely completion of projects. Monitors project budgets. Oversee and review calculations, reports, and memorandums. Ensures accurate client billings and monitors outstanding accounts receivable. Assists in proposal preparation, project scoping, estimating project costs, project planning, and project quality. Is available to attend meetings or events outside of normal working hours. Directs and supervises the work of entry-level engineers, technicians, drafters and administrative staff. Actively observes and acts in an appropriate manner related to safety. Ensures that staff needing specialized training in health and safety procedures and practices receives such training and that safety is discussed as an important aspect of their work. Other duties may be assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and/or master’s degree in civil engineering from an accredited four-year university.
  • 10+ years of experience in bridge load rating and the desire to expand or grow your project management and client management experience.
  • Knowledge of MassDOT Bridge Manual, AASHTO LRFD, and permitting standards.
  • Proficiency with structural analysis softwares (AASHTOWare BrR, MIDAS, STAAD, LARSA, CSiBridge) and CAD tools (Autodesk, Civil 3D, MicroStation)
  • Communication, leadership, and business development skills.
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) certification required.
  • Valid driver’s license.
