To assist us in meeting our mission, Project Bread – The Walk for Hunger is seeking a Project Manager to join our team. Supervisor: Chief Advancement Officer (CAO) Starting Salary Range: $68,000-$72,000 The Role: The Project Manager supports the CAO and the Development & Communications team by coordinating projects, improving department-wide systems, and helping ensure the smooth execution of fundraising and communications work. Serving as a “right hand” to the CAO in executing their strategic vision, this role combines project management, team operations, and executive support to keep priorities moving forward and ensure strong communication across the department. The ideal candidate is highly organized, finds joy in building relationships and collaborating, and is comfortable managing many moving pieces at once. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with the CAO and contribute directly to work that drives awareness, fundraising, and community engagement in support of Project Bread’s mission.

  • 3+ years of professional experience in executive support, nonprofit communications and development, project management, or similar role.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience drafting correspondence and preparing materials and presentations.
  • Proven ability to manage complex scheduling, priorities, and competing deadlines with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to give and receive timely feedback.
  • Skilled in the use of technology, including Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint), Asana, and Raiser’s Edge, and able to learn and adapt to new systems.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the CAO’s calendar and scheduling and support daily workflow; anticipate needs and adjust priorities as needed.
  • Draft and coordinate internal and external communications on behalf of the CAO.
  • Support the preparation for internal and external meetings, such as creating agendas, presentations and briefing materials and managing event logistics.
  • Support communication between CAO and the Executive Team, maintain alignment on priorities and objectives, so as to support CAO in strategic decision making.
  • Manage expense reports, invoices, and other administrative tasks to support smooth departmental operations.
  • Lead or support special projects that advance Development & Communication’s team goals, coordinating contributors, timelines, and deliverables.
  • Work cross-functionally across departments to ensure smooth execution, problem-solve barriers, and keep projects moving forward. Serve as a connector between the CAO and Development and Communications teams, supporting prioritization, communication flow, and decision-making.
  • Facilitate the creation of the quarterly Board memo, soliciting and synthesizing content from the Development & Communications Team.
  • Support annual department planning, coordinating the development of goals, budget, and work plans, and tracking progress throughout the year.
  • Coordinate department meetings and annual department retreat, including managing scheduling and logistics, creating agendas, and supporting facilitation..
  • Maintain and improve departmental processes to support collaboration, track follow-up items and deadlines,
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the smooth operation of the Development and Communications team.
  • Support the annual Walk for Hunger, including working as event staff the weekend of the Walk (first weekend in May), and attending pre-Walk events as assigned.
  • Participate in organization-wide events and meetings.
  • Act to promote, sustain, and grow Project Bread’s positive, productive, and inclusive working environment.
