About The Position

Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) has an exciting opportunity for a Mid-Level or Senior Project Management Specialist (Level 3 or 4) to serve as a Control Account Manager (CAM) for the Space Launch System (SLS) Program in Huntsville, AL. NASA's Space Launch System provides a critical heavy-lift capability, powering people and cargo to/beyond our moon and into deep space. SLS launches larger payloads farther in our solar system, faster than ever before possible. It is the most powerful rocket ever built, enabling diverse exploration, and science and security missions. Boeing is the prime contractor for the design, development, test and production of the launch vehicle cryogenic stages and avionics suite.

Requirements

  • 3+ years experience managing budgets/resources, including Control/Cost Account Management (CAM) experience
  • 3+ years of experience leading or managing projects that involved cross-functional or cross-business unit teams
  • 3+ year of experience working with Project management skills, and ability to drive performance to plan and results
  • Experience in Earned Value Management
  • Experience in root cause analysis and corrective action
  • Experience collecting and analyzing data from multiple sources, as well as interpreting data and presenting analysis and recommendations to management
  • Proficiency and experience working with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • This position is expected to be 100% onsite.
  • The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.
  • This position must meet export control compliance requirements. To meet export control compliance requirements, a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.15 is required. “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Responsibilities

  • Control Account Manager for supplier integration with special focus on Earned Value Management (EVM) integration, ensuring an executable baseline is in place, performance accrual is maintained, estimate at complete is accurate, and root cause variance analysis and corrective actions are completed on time.
  • Accountable to meet objective of cost, schedule and technical performance of assigned control accounts.
  • Plan Control Accounts, Work Packages & Planning Packages.
  • Validate Control Account Authorization and chargeline setup.
  • Determine Control Account budgets, develop & maintain Estimate at Completion (EAC) and Estimate to Complete (ETC) time phasing.
  • Quantify Risk & Opportunity – Leverage Boeing Opportunity, Risk & Issue System (BORIS), includes Basis of Estimate (BOE) & probability.
  • Develop/monitor corrective action plans as necessary.
  • Review actuals/expenditures for accuracy & proper charging.
  • Complete Variance analysis on time and good quality; includes populating Variance Analysis Report (VAR) tool when thresholds are tripped.
  • Perform criticality assessment & establish vertical integration for inputs to Material Vertical Integration.
  • Identifies key project level horizontal and vertical integration interfaces between major activities, teams, suppliers, partners and customers.
  • Participates in performance to plan meetings, holding others accountable to commitments, and interfacing directly with NASA customer.
  • Identifies issues across teams/functions and facilitates resolution in an expeditious manner.
  • Develops overall project plans consistent with project objectives as defined by the project owner and key stakeholders in accordance with accepted project management standards in the industry (e.g. PMI, Project Management Body of Knowledge [PMBOK], ANSI, and ISO standards).
  • Develops solutions to complex problems that require ingenuity and innovation.
  • Institutes Lean practices to eliminate waste, improving project management processes, streamlining business systems, and implementation of the Program Management Best Practices (PMBP).
  • Develops solutions to complex problems that require ingenuity and innovation.
