Closing Date: February 13th, 2026, or upon receipt of the first 50 applicant submissions Project Management Intern Office of Strategy, Budget, and Performance Hourly Pay Rate: $14.17 - $21.25 Job Summary: The Project Management Intern will advance the work of the Project Management Office, Strategy, and Budget units by providing administrative, operation, projects, communication, and engagement support. This position will also support countywide efforts in performance measurement, program management, and research analysis. The Intern position exists to create opportunities for individuals to build the skills needed to be successful in a professional career, to foster a continued sense of public service within their communities, and to provide meaningful pathways to public sector careers for students. The Office of Strategy, Budget, and Performance is hiring three interns to join their team to support the Milwaukee County Youth Commission or Performance Measurement.

Requirements

  • Authorized to work in the United States
  • High School Diploma
  • Intermediate knowledge of all related computer and software applications, such as word processing and spreadsheets. (Microsoft Word and Excel)
  • The ability to lift/carry and push/pull up to 25 lbs.
  • Read, write and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos.
  • Write routine reports, correspondence, and speak effectively before both internal and external groups.
  • Establish, organize and maintain files, document management and data base searches.
  • Work effectively and harmoniously with Internal and external groups.

  • Experience or interest in areas related to political science, public administration, economics, urban studies, journalism, public relations, project management, research, and/or communications.

Responsibilities

  • Support initiatives and projects including conducting research for Milwaukee County programs and services, performing data entry and analysis, as well as tracking project timelines and deliverables using project management tools.
  • Coordinate meetings including preparing agendas, presentations, and materials, note-taking, and following-up on action items.
  • Assist with managing databases and tracking systems that support performance measurement, assist with program management, and support the Strategy & Budget Performance (SBP) priorities and initiatives.
  • Support communication efforts including drafting materials such as proposals, promotional materials, reports, presentations, social media content, newsletters, and stakeholder communications.
  • Assist with internal and external engagement and event coordination including planning, logistics, and stakeholder outreach.
  • Provide general administrative support to ensure efficient workflows. This includes organizing and maintaining files and systems, documenting initiatives, as well as assisting with other administrative tasks as assigned based on SBP priorities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
