About The Position

AECOM is looking for a Project Environmental Scientist position in Fort Lauderdale office. The successful candidate will work within an interdisciplinary, collaborative environment that provides career growth opportunities within AECOM’s Remediation Southeast Team. This position will consist of both in-person and virtual (telework) work environments and will include performing environmental contamination assessments, contamination remediation, plan reviews, and technical report writing. The successful candidate will provide technical skills leading and supporting Environmental Remediation projects within the department and will develop strong relationships with the team and clients to enable pursuit of new opportunities. The successful candidate will have the ability to communicate effectively with members of the project team, clients, site personnel and office management, and work both independently and as part of a project team. The successful candidate will be committed to the team's success and growth; will rigorously apply safety policies and procedures; will manage the technical, cost and schedule elements of project delivery; and will effectively manage the quality of field efforts and project deliverables within the bounds of the AECOM Quality Management System

Requirements

  • BA/BS in Environmental Science or related field 6+ years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
  • Experience working with Floridia Department of Transportation
  • Valid U.S Driver's License and as a condition of employment, must pass AECOM's Motor Vehicle Records Review
  • As a condition of employment, candidates must pass a drug screening
  • As a condition of employment, candidates must pass a medical screening
  • Willing to work in a hybrid work environment, with office presence for two days a week.
  • Knowledge of CADD/GIS

Nice To Haves

  • Masters Degree in Environmental Science or related field
  • 7+ years of experience working in a environmental consulting firm
  • OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER certification
  • Willingness to travel, complete field work, and work extended hours, when necessary.
  • Knowledge of Mid-Atlantic States environmental regulations and setting.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with limited portions of a broader assignment of an experienced engineer.
  • Supports AECOM projects in the areas of contaminated sediments, soil and groundwater assessment and remediation, environmental compliance, regenerative remediation and sustainability.
  • Collects and correlates basic engineering data using established and well-defined procedures. Assist with field activities for data collection.
  • Identifies discrepancies in results.
  • Assist the senior staff with field oversight of remediation activities.
  • Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule with supervision.
