Who are we looking for? Our West Region Environmental business is looking for an Environmental Scientist to support our growing work in contamination investigation and remediation. This role is based in Phoenix, AZ, and is an excellent opportunity for a motivated early- to mid-career professional who enjoys occasional hands-on fieldwork, thoughtful data analysis and reporting, task management, and contributing to meaningful environmental solutions. You’ll work closely with multidisciplinary teams to support or lead site investigations, sampling programs, environmental assessments, and compliance-driven project work including data assessment and development of draft reports - helping our clients address contamination issues and protect the communities they serve. Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent Level in the fields of engineering, environmental science, geology, or related science
  • Minimum 5 years experience

Responsibilities

  • Data Collection, Analysis, and Reporting: Collate and analyze data using preset tools, methods, and formats and develop draft reports. Involves working independently.
  • Task Leadership (mostly office-based work): Plan sampling events, review field staff’s documentation for accuracy and quality control/quality assurance, be available to help field staff find solutions to challenges encountered in the field, monitor task-level budgets, keep the project manager informed on progress, etc.
  • Personal Capability Building: Develop own capabilities by participating in assessment and development planning activities as well as formal and informal training and coaching; gain or maintain external professional accreditation, where relevant, to improve performance and fulfill personal potential. Maintain an understanding of relevant technology, external regulation, and industry best practices through ongoing education, attending conferences, and reading specialist media.
  • Client & Customer Management (External): Manage relationships with small clients while also helping senior colleagues manage relationships with larger key clients and customers.
  • Sampling and Testing: Collect or oversee collection of a range of samples for laboratory testing and undertake testing in accordance with statutory frameworks and best practice to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Task Management: Work within an established project management plan to achieve specific goals.
  • Environmental Impact Assessment: Carry out environmental impact assessments, delivering on assigned tasks to ensure comprehensive evaluation.
  • Solutions Analysis: Interpret data and identify possible answers. Involves navigating a wide variety of processes, procedures, and precedents.
  • Insights and Reporting: Contribute to the preparation of various data and analytics reports.
  • Community of Practice Management: Participate actively in a community of practice in a defined area of expertise or consulting to build own expertise.
  • Environmental Risk Management: Coordinate the process of identifying, assessing, and mitigating environmental risks.
