About The Position

The company is seeking a Project Engineer to join its growing team in Dallas, TX. This role supports the successful execution of construction projects by assisting with coordination, documentation, communication, and day-to-day project operations. The Project Engineer works closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, subcontractors, vendors, consultants, and owners to help ensure projects stay on schedule, within budget, and aligned with quality and safety standards. With a strong emphasis on learning, mentorship, and hands-on involvement, this position offers a structured career path with the opportunity to progress into a Project Manager role within 1 to 4 years, based on performance and development.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Building Construction Science, Construction Management, Construction Technology, Civil Engineering, or a related field
  • Preferably 1–5 years of experience with a commercial general contractor in a Project Engineer, Estimator, or related role; recent graduates will also be considered
  • Strong proficiency in reading and interpreting construction drawings and specifications
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities
  • Analytical mindset with strengths in budgeting, estimating, and cost analysis
  • Proficiency in construction management software and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods and visit active construction sites
  • Willingness and ability to travel as required
  • Demonstrated initiative, leadership potential, and eagerness to learn
  • Passion for the construction industry and hands-on project involvement

Nice To Haves

  • Relevant internship, co-op, or academic project experience in commercial or industrial construction is highly desirable

Responsibilities

  • Assist with pre-construction planning, including organizing and participating in pre-construction, subcontractor, Owner-Architect-Contractor (OAC), and city meetings; prepare and maintain meeting minutes
  • Support buy-out and estimating efforts, including value engineering, constructability reviews, and logistics planning
  • Assist with procurement activities, tracking long-lead items and coordinating materials and owner-supplied equipment
  • Work with the Project Manager, Superintendent, and subcontractors to coordinate, update, and distribute project schedules
  • Manage project documentation, including logs, RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, transmittals, and current plan sets
  • Support the Project Manager with schedule tracking, budgeting, and cost control
  • Coordinate communication with owners, consultants, and internal development teams; prepare status reports and hot lists
  • Assist with permitting and coordination with government and municipal agencies
  • Provide technical support to field teams to ensure compliance with codes, drawings, and specifications
  • Assist with quality control by inspecting work and verifying compliance with plans and specifications
  • Participate in project closeout activities, including punch lists, O&M manuals, and system start-ups
  • Perform additional duties as assigned
