As a Data Center Project Engineer, you will join a diverse team dedicated to solving complex problems in Data Center construction for SB Energy. This role involves collaboration with partner teams such as Operations, Networking, Controls, Security, and Commissioning to build data centers that support customers. You will be on the construction site daily, interacting with construction managers and stakeholders, and will be directly responsible for supporting the fast, high-quality delivery of data center construction. As part of the onsite Construction Management team, you will manage communication and coordination with vendors, information workflow, and document management, including RFIs, change orders, reports, and schedule updates.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or related field.
  • Equivalent construction experience or a strong technical background such as aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, or similar disciplines may be considered in place of a directly aligned degree.
  • Experience working in a data center or mission critical facility (example: hospital, military facility, public safety facility, etc.)
  • 1-3+ years of experience in construction or project management.
  • Knowledge of electrical systems in critical Data Center operations that include but are not limited to utility substation feeds, transformers, switchgear, VFI Class UPS, DRUPS, PDUs, ATS, STS, SLA/VRLA batteries and associated systems, diesel/gas turbine generators and related fuel systems, Surge Suppression, Active Harmonic Harmonic Filtering, battery monitoring systems, branch circuit monitoring systems or SCADA systems.
  • Knowledge of mission critical systems (data centers, hospitals, power plants, military facilities, etc.).
  • Experience in vendor negotiation and management for data center or upgrade construction contracts.
  • CFC license or PMI qualification (PMP, IPMA, IPMC).

Responsibilities

  • Establishing communication and coordination across a data center region’s general contractors, stakeholders, and internal teams.
  • Develop and maintain a tracking system for design changes, RFI’s (requests for information), and change orders and dashboard and track this information for regional leadership review. Include tracking status of priority and due dates.
  • Requesting and reviewing MOPs (Method of Procedure) for proper detail, necessity, and risk.
  • On-boarding new vendors for badging and orientation.
  • Updating project management software with milestone dates, correspondence, and documents.
  • Monitor delivery of owner furnished material to site.
  • Compiling and storing construction data from vendors.
  • Managing checklist including various checklists including substantial completion checks, safety, and quality.
