About The Position

The Project Coordinator represents the UFW Foundation before stakeholders and target communities. They plan, promote and participate in community education around local resources available to communities impacted by immigration issues. They provide essential administrative, logistical, and operational support to program directors, managers, or other department staff to ensure smooth program execution. They help develop and sustain leader engagement programs to support UFW Foundation projects and campaigns to increase awareness of our immigration services. The Project Coordinator will also promote UFW Foundation programs and services in the general community. The Project Coordinator also coordinates with the digital and communications operations to document local efforts, raise awareness and increase use of services. The Project Coordinator reports to the Directing Attorney.

  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra.

  • Must be familiar with the history and mission of the UFW Foundation and be willing to make long-term commitment.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Minimum of 2 year significant and progressively responsible experience with community education, event coordination and or in developing grassroots leadership and power in local, state and national campaigns. A commitment to the mission of the farm worker movement is required.
  • Must be proficient with computer programs such as Microsoft Word, Access, Excel, etc.
  • Valid California Driver’s License.
  • Valid auto insurance.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university is a plus.
  • Ability to speak Mixteco, Zapotec, Triqui and other languages indigenous to Mexico a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates, plans and participates in community events and service promotion.
  • Collaborates with Communications staff to generate story collection and earned media coverage (e.g., press conferences).
  • Leads the creation and securing of targeted promotional material.
  • Complies with organizational policies and procedures.
  • Delivers a concrete and accurate message about all of our projects, campaigns, programs, and services available to the community.
  • Ensures high service and delivery standards in a positive and respectful atmosphere to recipients.
  • Identifies, recruits and trains community residents to become community advocates,.
  • Manages and maintains appointment platform for the program.
  • Maintains collaborative working relationships with legal service, immigration, health, and related agencies, including county workers and other partner organizations.
  • Manages and implements various education and mobilization activities to achieve goals, including outreach, building, leading coalitions, and direct community contact in targeted communities.
  • Manages, trains, keeps track, and motivates volunteer teams in their department.
  • Participates in trainings and conferences.
  • Tracks, analyzes, and reports data via Quickbase or other assigned platforms and uses the Management by Objectives and Results (MOR) process.
  • Travels to various areas throughout designated regions within the state when needed.
  • Updates calendar of events, flyers, and other informational materials for distribution.
  • Works on evening and weekend projects as assigned.
