About The Position

The Project Coordination Manager at Barge leads the project coordination function across all engineering and architecture consulting projects, ensuring consistent project controls, seamless delivery, and operational excellence. This role combines people leadership, project management oversight, and process optimization to manage a team of Project Coordinators and Supervisors while supporting firmwide strategic initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree preferred, or equivalent experience
  • 8+ years of progressive project coordination experience in engineering, architecture, or consulting environments
  • Minimum 3-5 years of management experience leading teams of 8+ professionals
  • Advanced proficiency in project management software (BST)
  • knowledge of professional services billing, contract administration, and client management
  • Strong understanding of engineering and architecture project lifecycles
  • Proven track record of developing and mentoring professional staff
  • Advanced analytical and management capabilities

Responsibilities

  • Direct and manage the Project Coordination department, including Project Coordinators I–III and supervisory staff
  • Establish performance objectives, conduct evaluations, and provide coaching and career development guidance
  • Lead talent management activities including recruitment, selection, onboarding, and retention
  • Foster a collaborative, high-performance culture focused on accountability, continuous improvement, and professional growth
  • Make recommendations regarding promotions, compensation adjustments, and disciplinary actions
  • Develop and implement department-wide standards, procedures, and best practices for project coordination
  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure coordination effectiveness, efficiency, and compliance
  • Ensure consistent application of project management and project controls methodologies across all projects
  • Monitor quality of coordination deliverables and implement corrective actions as needed
  • Serve as an escalation point for complex coordination challenges, risks, and compliance issues
  • Provide oversight and guidance for large, complex, or high-risk projects requiring advanced coordination support
  • Review and approve major project deliverables, scope changes, schedule impacts, and budget modifications
  • Resolve high-level project coordination issues and client concerns
  • Support project teams in achieving delivery milestones, financial targets, and client expectations
  • Lead process improvement initiatives to optimize project delivery, coordination workflows, and client satisfaction
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to align coordination services with firmwide operational and strategic objectives
  • Oversee the development and maintenance of project coordination training programs, tools, and resources
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients and internal project stakeholders
  • Participate in proposal development and client presentations for strategic pursuits
  • Represent the project coordination function in firmwide strategic planning and business development activities
  • Oversee department budget planning, staffing models, and resource allocation
  • Champion adoption of new coordination technologies and project management tools
  • Oversee system implementations, upgrades, and process changes impacting the coordination function
