About The Position

As a Project Buyer, you are an active member of multiple project teams, supporting the successful execution of large-scale material handling projects. You play a key role in sourcing, purchasing, and coordinating the delivery of materials, equipment, and services needed to keep projects on track. In this role, you’ll manage procurement for 5–6 concurrent core projects, balancing cost, schedule, and quality while working closely with engineering, project management, suppliers, and logistics partners. You’ll build strong vendor relationships, ensure alignment with project budgets and timelines, and proactively solve supply chain challenges as they arise. Sound like you? Read on. Requirements

  • You’re highly organized and able to manage multiple projects without losing attention to detail.
  • You can prioritize effectively and adapt quickly in a fast-paced, project-driven environment.
  • You’re a strong communicator who can build relationships with both internal teams and external partners.
  • You’re comfortable negotiating and having direct, solution-oriented conversations with suppliers.
  • You have a proactive mindset and take initiative to solve problems before they impact the project. You’re comfortable working with Microsoft Office tools, especially Excel, Outlook, and Teams.
  • You have experience or interest in material handling, construction, manufacturing, or a related industry

Responsibilities

  • Manage procurement activities across 5–6 active core projects, ensuring alignment with project schedules and budgets.
  • Review engineering drawings, BOMs, and project specifications to determine material and service requirements.
  • Source and purchase materials including conveyor components, mechanical assemblies, structural steel, motors, drives, bearings, belts, rollers, controls, and fabricated parts.
  • Issue and manage purchase orders and subcontracts for core project scopes.
  • Analyze supplier quotations and negotiate pricing, lead times, and terms to meet project goals.
  • Coordinate freight and logistics for core projects, working with 3PL partners to ensure on-time delivery.
  • Track orders, expedite critical materials, and proactively mitigate supply chain risks.
  • Monitor and track project budgets, supporting cost control and budget comparisons.
  • Manage onsite rentals and ensure proper utilization and off-renting of equipment.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and vendors to resolve supply or scope changes.
  • Maintain accurate procurement records within ERP/MRP systems.
  • Support supplier performance tracking and ongoing relationship development
