About The Position

The Project Accountant coordinates project cost analysis for team activities supporting Project Managers or other staff. This role involves overseeing the cost reporting for multiple projects and monitoring project budgets to ensure accurate depiction of project costs. Responsibilities include inputting budgets within corporate systems, providing ongoing forecast updates, variance analysis, and collaborating with project teams to implement project management best practices throughout the project lifecycle.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in accounting and project accounting.
  • Familiarity with construction environments and month-end processes.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Demonstrate effective time management, organizational, and planning skills.
  • Basic technical knowledge related to writing and verbal communication.
  • Bachelor's degree required for entry-level; one year of experience required for intermediate level with a Bachelor's degree, or three years with an Associate's degree.

Nice To Haves

  • Exposure to corporate accounting and project cost management systems is preferred.
  • Experience in operations planning, project management, cost tracking, and analysis is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to achieve goals with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Team player with strong collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate project meetings and collaborate with project team members on project activities.
  • Support Project Managers in preparing and updating project documentation and planning.
  • Assist with preparing forecasts of project spending and cash flows, budget variance monitoring, and cost tracking/analysis.
  • Collaborate with Project Management to perform variance reporting and establish original baseline budgets.
  • Perform departmental organizational functions, such as tracking and verifying information for unvouchered liabilities.
  • Assist in the contracting process, including bidding activities and cost analysis.
  • Communicate with project team resources and stakeholders on budgetary items.
  • Develop and compile Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) that are measurable outcomes.
  • Provide strong teamwork and respond to customer/vendor inquiries and work order issues.
  • Understand project management organizational standards and assist in managing projects to those standards.
  • Coordinate work activities of team members or external parties to resolve technical tasks.
