About The Position

The Project Accountant is responsible for the financial management, reporting, and analysis of EvapTech Inc. projects. This role ensures that all project-related financial transactions are accurately recorded, monitored, and reported in compliance with company policies and accounting standards. The Project Accountant serves as the key liaison between operations, project management, and finance, providing financial insight to support effective project execution and profitability.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting preferred.
  • 3–5 years of accounting experience, with at least 2 years focused on progress billing, project or construction accounting.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and job cost accounting principles.
  • Proficiency in accounting and ERP software (e.g., Jobscope, Tagetik, or equivalent).
  • Excel skills for financial analysis and reporting.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with project teams and management.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects in a deadline-driven environment.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all financial aspects of EvapTech Inc. projects from initiation through completion.
  • Provide ongoing support to Project Managers by processing project-related customer billings and invoices.
  • Monitor project performance by tracking actual costs against budget and analyzing variances.
  • Review and process project-related customer invoices, change orders, and purchase orders.
  • Perform monthly project reconciliations, including work-in-progress (WIP), billings, and accruals.
  • Coordinate with Project Managers to review financial results and identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Support cash flow forecasting by managing project billing schedules and collections.
  • Assist in preparing audit documentation and supporting schedules related to project activity.
  • Review subcontractor certificates of insurance every six months and ensure a current COI is on file for all subcontractors active on our job sites.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, company policies, and contractual obligations.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to streamline project accounting processes.
  • Partner with business leaders to drive operational and financial performance.
