About The Position

The Project Accountant provides essential accounting support for operations, sales, and finance departments, focusing on project financials, invoicing, and the month-end close process. This role is key to ensuring accurate financial reporting and assisting with the smooth management of financial aspects throughout the project lifecycle.

  • A minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent is required. Bachelors in Accounting/ Finance/Business or related field is preferred.
  • Minimum 4 years of percent completion accounting experience preferably in a construction or government contracting environment.
  • Demonstrated experience with Project Accounting.
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.

  • Experience in the AV industry is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain monthly operating reports, conduct project review meetings, and support special projects as requested.
  • Collaborate with revenue operations to ensure timely and accurate invoicing and address related financial concerns.
  • Report financial data and provide updates on unbilled projects for your designated office location.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for project accounting activities between finance, sales, and operations teams.
  • Participate in job reviews with project managers to assess financial impacts (invoicing, change orders, etc.).
  • Regularly update and communicate project budgets, as well as estimated time to completion.
  • Support the finance department by assisting with account reconciliations and other necessary financial tasks.
  • Review and coordinate Work in Progress (WIP) reports between operations and finance to ensure correct revenue recognition.
  • Identify recurring issues, analyze underlying causes, and work with leadership to develop strategies for resolution and prevention.
  • Request and gather necessary compliance documentation, including certificates of insurance, bid bonds, and performance bonds.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
