About The Position

Angeline’s Day Center is a 24/7 Emergency Shelter. The center provides safe, supportive shelter for homeless women, serving over 100 women daily. The center emphasis a compassionate, community focus approach, fostering an environment where clients can rebuild their lives with dignity, independence and hope. As the Program Supervisor, you will provide onsite leadership in the absence of the program manager during assigned shifts, including staff oversight, workflow direction and immediate corrective guidance and mediation, in alignment with the YWCA policies. This position will also be on call to fill in for staff shifts and to ensure documentation accuracy and service quality. This position has a social justice component that requires critical thinking through the lens of racism and intersections with poverty. Knowing the core principles of antiracism and grounding those principles in everyday work requires job skills and core values. Requirements

  • Minimum of 3-5 years’ supervisory experience including managing, coaching and evaluating staff in social service setting, experience in supervising 10 or more staff preferred.
  • Work effectively and empathically with clients who have mental health and chemical related issues
  • Engage and build professional rapport and helping relationships with our client group
  • Commitment to diversity including sensitivity to the needs of clients, staff and volunteers from diverse cultural and economic backgrounds
  • Strong organizational and record keeping skills, documenting of incidents, case notes, reporting and staff interactions
  • Ability and willingness to work independently and as part of a team and to make sound judgments without on-site supervision
  • Any combination of skills and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform this job effectively
  • Experience responding to crisis and high stakes incidents, including conflict de-escalation, emergency management and critical decision making
  • Understanding of homelessness, poverty, and trauma, and how these issues intersect systemic oppression, race, gender, sexual orientation and disability
  • Strong computer proficiency, especially with Microsoft word, excel and outlook in a Network windows environment

Nice To Haves

  • At least 5 years of direct social service experience with homeless women
  • A Bachelor's degree in a related field
  • Knowledge and experience related to crisis intervention, domestic violence, homelessness, mental health, case management, and substance abuse
  • Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgement and make operational decisions in the absence of the program manager

Responsibilities

  • Serves as the program contact in the absence of the Program Manager, for facilities repairs, welcoming new volunteers and assisting in coordination of services in case of emergencies
  • Establish and maintain staff schedules and serve as on call back up to cover staff absences
  • Guide staff daily duties, coordinates rotation of assigned tasks, scheduled breaks and provide direct service
  • Assist in hiring and training new staff.
  • Serve as On-Call Supervisor contact during evening and weekends on a rotating basis with Program Manager (answering shelter questions after hours)
  • Responsible for Monthly Schedule including finding replacements to cover shifts
  • Compile report for Bus Ticket Logs Monthly
  • Address staff concerns when necessary and ensure that all staff responsibilities are performed in accordance with the policies and procedures.
  • Prepare a written summary of the day, staff attendance, repairs, general flow of services (Bars, Medical, Emergencies)
  • Greet and guide onsite volunteers for kitchen and shelter, work alongside volunteers where applicable. Assure that volunteers are treated with respect and dignity. Assure that volunteers are treated with respect and dignity regardless of race, ethnic background, gender or socioeconomic background
  • Meets with staff to address concerns when necessary
  • Prepares a written summary of the day, staff attendance, repairs, general flow of services, bars, medical emergencies
  • Meets with the Program Manager to resolve concerns related to client, staff, Angeline’s policies and procedures, safety, and maintenance in addition this position is a member of the leadership team which consists of the Director, Kitchen Manager and Program Manager to make decisions on programmatic issues
  • Performs assigned duties during emergency or disaster situations
