About The Position

Manage the day-to-day operations of the AmeriCorps programs (the largest in the state of Kansas). Manage program grant budgets and resources to ensure proper spending down of funds. Coordinate program activities and projects. Evaluate and seek out required training for program staff. Document and develop policies and procedures focused on program improvement. Cultivate and maintain community relationships. Plan, write, and report on grants. Identify and pursue additional funding opportunities. Conduct evaluation of programming to improve processes and procedures. Develop expense reports and prepare programmatic fiscal and regulatory reports. PERFORM GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES AS PART OF THE JOB REQUIREMENTS LISTED ABOVE: Maintain an understanding of the various processes and procedures of the position. Support WYCO PHD policy, standards, and values, ensuring solid ethical standards are practiced. Work collaboratively with WYCO PHD staff, contractors, volunteers, and external partners. Maintain professional and cordial interactions with community partners, staff, and others at all times. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in non-profit management, business, public health, community health, social work, and five years of increasingly responsible related program experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
  • Strong interpersonal and public speaking skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies, build consensus, and manage competing priorities.
  • Ability to maintain composure under stressful situations.
  • Must be comfortable working and collaborating with colleagues remotely and using applicable tools, such as Zoom and Microsoft Teams.
  • Experience with group facilitation and working on collaborative projects.
  • Experience working on policy, systems, and environmental changes that improve population health.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects at once.
  • Ability to give public presentations to all audiences.
  • Have and maintain a valid driver’s license.
  • Experience working with teams made up of people from multiple organizations and roles is a plus.
  • All positions require that the applicant be a resident of Wyandotte county or willing to relocate within (12) months from the date of hire.
  • As a condition of employment all employees must pass a post offer physical examination and drug screen.
  • And submit proof of identity and employment eligibility.

  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • AmeriCorps or Peace Corps experience preferred.
  • Grant-writing and grant management.
  • Experience or comfort working with policymakers.
  • Certification in volunteer management or a relevant certificate.
  • Knowledge of cultural humility and experience working with culturally diverse populations.
  • Analysis and critical thinking skills.
  • Some experience with social media, earned media, and public relations.
