The OPEL Program Specialist supports the Office of Professional Engagement and Learning by coordinating short-term workforce training programs, workshops, and bootcamps. This position plays a vital role in managing the day-to-day coordination of continuing and professional education programs offered through FSU Panama City.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree and two years of experience; or a high school diploma or equivalent and six years of experience.
  • (Note: a combination of post high school education and experience equal to six years.)

Nice To Haves

  • Degree in a technical field (Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering or a related area)
  • Professional certifications in IT or cybersecurity (e.g., Amazon Web Services, Certified Information Systems Security Professional, and Cisco Certified Network Associate).
  • Experience coordinating workforce development, adult education, or career training programs.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Familiarity with continuing education and workforce readiness initiatives.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Canva or similar design tools, and social media platforms.
  • Experience with online learning management systems (Canvas, D2L, Moodle).
  • Technical certifications (CompTIA, AWS, Cisco, etc.) and hands-on experience leading or supporting IT or cybersecurity training.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting with planning, scheduling, and executing training sessions and special events.
  • Coordinating communication with learners, instructors, and partners, including registration, materials distribution, and attendance tracking.
  • Promoting OPEL programs through flyers, social media, email campaigns, and tabling events.
  • Supporting data collection and reporting efforts to measure program impact and guide improvement.
  • Managing instructional materials, supplies, and technology used in program delivery.
  • Providing administrative and logistical support for both in-person and online courses.
  • Serving as a point of contact for learners, partners, and faculty by phone, email, or in person.
  • Gathering participant feedback and contributing to continuous program development.
  • Performing other duties as necessary to ensure effective and compliant program operations.
