About The Position

This is a highly responsible professional position responsible for assisting in the planning, organizing, and directing of the professional learning efforts in educator retention, and assisting with the planning, organizing, and implementing the state process for review and approval of professional learning systems,. This position serves as the bureau’s policy contact, serving as the central point of contact between the Bureau of Educator Recruitment, Development and Retention and the Bureau of Educator Certification to provide expert guidance on policy inquiries, rule development, and bill analyses. This position serves as the strategic project leader for Department policy pertaining to the bureau, responsible for the success of policy special projects and initiatives as assigned. Coordinate and implement the professional learning review process required in section 1012.98, F.S.

Requirements

  • Six years of professional experience in education or related field.
  • Ability to prepare reports; to develop, evaluate, and interpret programs, policies and procedures.
  • Ability to travel.
  • Ability to communicate effectively including verbal and written communication.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate planning and implementation of assigned training programs and workgroups, including Clinical Educator Training content and programs.
  • Assist with the coordinating, planning and implementation of assigned training programs and workgroups, including Clinical Educator Training content and programs.
  • Collaborate to identify and train site review team members for Evaluation Protocol Reviews consistent with provisions of SBE Rule 6A-5.071, FAC, and assist in updating Evaluation Protocol Reviewer’s Guide and site reviewer training components.
  • Provide technical assistance to districts and schools in the area of “high quality” professional learning and personnel evaluation practices.
  • Collaborate with others to plan and implement Department-sponsored professional learning for educators.
  • Assist with the compilation of best practices in professional learning and manage online applications to share information with school districts on such practices.
  • Coordinate between the Bureau for Educator Recruitment, Development and Retention and the Bureau of Educator Certification to provide guidance and technical assistance on policy inquiries, rule development, and bill analyses.
  • Collaborate with inter-departmental bureaus and teams to support policy implementation and provide strategic input on policy and rulemaking relevant to the bureau.
  • Design, coordinate and deliver comprehensive training programs to bureau staff and other teams, as needed, to ensure staff are well-versed in rulemaking processes, implementation, and bill analysis.
  • Coordinate and lead workgroups on policy implementation pertaining to the bureau.
  • Assist with the monitoring of grants and programs as assigned.
  • Assist in monitoring, revising and editing content on the Florida School Leaders website, assigned sections of the Teach in Florida website, assigned pages of the Department’s website and Department-supported online professional learning tools to align with designated Department priorities, the Florida Educator Accomplished Practices and the Florida Educator Leadership Standards.
  • Assist with the review, approval and monitoring of district performance appraisal systems.
  • Coordinate community of practice workgroups assisting with re-development of state models and/or standards for performance appraisal and professional learning.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Program Director and/or Bureau Chief.
