About The Position

At Yellowstone Boys and Girls Ranch, the Program Manager plays a key leadership role by guiding and supporting Mental Health Workers to ensure a safe, trauma-informed environment for youth. As a member of the Leadership Team, the Program Manager collaborates with other leaders to uphold the mission and values of the organization. This role is instrumental in driving progress toward the goals outlined in the strategic plan. Additionally, the Program Manager serves as a primary liaison with external agencies, community partners, and families, fostering strong relationships and effective communication.

Requirements

  • 21 years old or older
  • Criminal / Child Abuse Clearance: Must pass criminal record and child abuse registry background check as required by the State of Montana.
  • Education and Experience: an advanced degree in social work or a comparable human service field and two years of relevant experience; or a bachelor’s degree in social work or a comparable human service field and four or more years of relevant experience. If an internal candidate does not meet the above requirements but has demonstrated competency and potential ability to complete the duties of the position through their work experience with YBGR, they may be considered for the position based on staffing needs. This consideration would come with a personalized career development plan, requiring enhanced supervision and development, along with actively pursuing and completing any unmet educational requirements.
  • License to operate passenger vehicle.

  • Demonstrated ability to work with youth with emotional and psychiatric issues.

  • Use of computer and able to quickly learn and use YBGR selected software solutions.
  • Demonstrate being self-motivated, self-disciplined, and diligent with forward thinking.
  • Demonstrate the ability to think of their team over self and define success collectively rather than individually.
  • The ability to effectively interact and communicate with others. These skills are essential for building and maintaining relationships, collaborating with colleagues, resolving conflicts, and navigating various social situations.

  • Willingness and ability to obtain certification in First Aid/CPR and Violence Intervention Prevention.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and evaluate staff performance, providing feedback and guidance to ensure professional training, certification, and adherence to YBGR policies and treatment philosophy.
  • Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment that supports youth in achieving their treatment goals.
  • Provide crisis intervention and de-escalation as needed, both routinely and on-call.
  • Manage administrative duties including scheduling, supervision, budgeting, and other tasks as assigned.
  • Collaborate with the Lodge’s Treatment Team, ensuring timely and outcome-focused treatment documentation and implementation.
  • Build and maintain effective communication and relationships with youth families and external stakeholders.
  • Support agency-wide strategic goals by contributing to individual, departmental, and organizational outcomes.
  • Actively participate in Performance Quality Improvement (PQI) initiatives.
  • Foster constructive and supportive interactions with colleagues across the organization.
  • Consistently model and uphold the mission and values of YBGR.
  • Comply with all organizational policies, systems, safety protocols, and procedures.
  • Proactively identify challenges and seek effective solutions.
  • Represent YBGR professionally in all external interactions.
  • Engage in monthly supervision and coaching sessions with the assigned supervisor.
  • Maintain cultural and socioeconomic awareness of the populations served.
  • Complete all required training relevant to the role and beneficial to YBGR.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
