About The Position

The Texas A&M University Career Center provides centralized career and professional development services for undergraduate, graduate, and former students. We provide individualized career advising while also empowering students to utilize self-assessment resources to identify and explore careers, and we assist and support students in gaining relevant experience and pursuing their career goals, whether they choose to seek admission to graduate school or secure professional employment. One of the largest programs of its kind in the nation, the Career Center has been recognized nationally and regionally for our many best practices. The Career Center is conveniently located on campus in the Koldus Building. The Program Manager, under direction, coordinates, implements, and manages the strategic development, administration, and continuous improvement of a supervised academic program that integrates semesters of academic study with paid, full-time, career‑related work experience. This position ensures high‑quality student experiences, strong employer partnerships, and effective coordination across departments so students can gain industry exposure while maintaining full‑time student status during work terms. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Five years of experience in career services, advising, recruiting, or related specialty.
  • Ability to multi-task and work collaboratively with others.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills – interpersonal, written, and presentation.
  • Working knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet programs, and ability to work with and present data.
  • Experience with complex databases and computer software programs.
  • Proficiency in researching and utilizing online resources.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple, ongoing programs and services.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee day‑to‑day management of the Co-Op Program, ensuring alignment with academic policies, institutional standards, and experiential learning best practices.
  • Coordinate the scheduling, enrollment, and tracking of students in Co-Op courses ensuring full-time status compliance.
  • Manage and promote multiple co-op models including alternating, back‑to‑back, and single work terms to accommodate student and employer needs.
  • Monitor student progress throughout co-op terms, including employer evaluations, reflection assignments, and academic requirements.
  • Maintain up-to-date program resources, documentation, and communication materials for students, employers, and faculty.
  • Supports employer outreach and recruitment activities for internship, co-op and full-time job opportunities.
  • Coordinates employer involvement in student organization, college-specific and university-wide career events.
  • Interacts with employers at events on campus as well as at conferences and other regional events to increase opportunities for students.
  • Works closely with college- and student-facing Career Center staff to carry out these duties.
  • Actively markets and leads presentations highlighting services and special programs available through this position to constituent groups throughout campus and within the broader recruiting community.
  • Designs, implements, and evaluates innovative career education programming for student populations, including large-scale programs and events (e.g., presentations, workshops, career fairs, resume remotes, tabling), and/or employer spotlights that address varied student career interests.
  • Builds partnerships with academic units, employers, and student organizations.
  • Maintains regular communication with campus partners, faculty, and staff.
  • Collect and analyze program data, employer feedback, and student outcomes to assess program effectiveness.
  • Identify areas of opportunity and implement enhancements to strengthen student experiences, employer satisfaction, and program visibility.
  • Prepare annual reports, presentations, and recommendations for leadership.
  • Advises students in areas of career/major exploration, career planning, and job search skills/techniques such as resume writing, job search strategies, networking, and interviewing.
  • Guide students through the Co-Op process from application to completion, offering individualized advising regarding job search strategies, expectations, and program requirements.
  • Prepare students for success by facilitating orientations, workshops, and professional development sessions designed to build confidence and workplace readiness.
  • Help students connect their academic theory with practical workplace application and reflect on their career goals.
  • Manages resource development including creation of print and digital career content.
  • Compiles resources that provide recruiting-related information for organizations to successfully connect with students.
  • Engages with organizations to identify the technical and professional skills that students must possess to succeed in their chosen careers.
  • Shares insights with Career Center leadership and campus stakeholders.
  • Participates in ongoing staff development and career services best practices.
  • Participates in departmental meetings and strategic planning sessions.
  • Coordinates internal and external communications, ensuring accurate dissemination of program updates.
