About The Position

As a Program Director, Veterinarian Programs you are responsible for strategic design, deployment, and continuous improvement of veterinary education programs across the hospital network. This role oversees New Graduate Bootcamp, structured mentorship, continuing education (CE) strategy, and advanced development opportunities for experienced and early career DVMs. The Program Director partners closely with the Global Medical Education team, Talent & Recruiting, and the People & Learning organization to ensure education programs are aligned with enterprise medical standards, workforce strategy, and leadership development priorities. This role is accountable for measurable impact on Mars Associate Survey (MAS) outcomes, new graduate retention, overall DVM retention, and the development of a strong medical leadership pipeline within hospitals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or advanced degree required; Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) preferred
  • Minimum of 5+ years of clinical veterinary experience, ideally within general practice, emergency, or specialty settings; internship or advanced clinical training is a plus
  • Certification in Education and/or DVM credential preferred
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; experience with reporting and analytics tools such as Excel, Power BI, or Tableau is a plus
  • Strong English communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to travel up to 25% to VCA hospitals, MVH hubs, support offices, and other locations based on business needs

  • Experience developing or leading mentorship or structured training programs for early-career veterinarians
  • Knowledge of adult learning principles and curriculum development
  • Experience presenting or facilitating workshops, trainings, or conferences
  • Familiarity with program metrics, KPI tracking, and data analysis

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and continuously refine the New Graduate Bootcamp program to build clinical readiness, confidence, and successful transition into practice
  • Develop and oversee structured mentorship programs for early-career DVMs, including mentor selection, training, and accountability
  • Create and deploy a continuing education (CE) strategy aligned with enterprise medical priorities and evidence-based standards of care
  • Partner with Global Medical Education to localize and operationalize global initiatives within the field
  • Develop advanced education pathways for experienced DVMs, including clinical skill advancement and leadership readiness tracks
  • Collaborate with Talent & Recruiting to align education and mentorship programs with recruitment strategy and employer value proposition
