We are looking for a full-time Program Coordinator to assist in the management and operations of the Alfred J Thomas Home for Veterans program. Supervises and directs employees and ensures that veterans receive high quality care in accordance with Agency policies, procedures, and practices. Full-time, in-person position (Garfield, NJ location)

Requirements

  • Must have a Master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology or in a related field plus 1-year supervisory experience.
  • Mental health, substance recovery, homeless prevention or housing services experience required; minimally completed coursework or training in mental health and/or substance abuse.
  • Knowledge of veterans’ issues, mental illness, addiction, and homelessness.
  • Valid NJ Driver’s License with a good driving record.

Nice To Haves

  • Valid NJ professional license strongly preferred (i.e. LAC, LSW, LPC, LCSW, LCADC)

Responsibilities

  • Establishes and maintains cooperative relationships with referral sources and other community agencies.
  • Includes referral sources, case workers, therapists, family members, or other advocates in the recovery process when authorized by a veteran.
  • Responsible for ensuring that program referrals are screened, eligibility determined and admitted in a timely manner.
  • Coordinates and monitors all aspects of service delivery including admission screening, assessment, evaluation, recommendations on placements, recovery planning, case conferences, referrals for adjunctive services, family meetings, group work, individual counseling, case management, veteran advocacy, liaison with other community agencies, and discharges.
  • Provides support, supervision, and direction to Behavioral Health Counselors and Case Managers including orientation, training, performance evaluation, professional development, and ensures the completion of job responsibilities.
  • Provides clinical support and on-call coverage to employees and veterans for crisis intervention and emergency assistance.
  • Assists the Director of Veteran Services with in-house tours, public speaking engagements and with special events to further promote public awareness of the Program.
  • Ensures accuracy and consistency with Agency fiscal and billing procedures.
  • Documents service delivery accurately and timely.
  • Functions as a team member: covering shifts, facilitating groups, participating in program activities, communicating all relevant information to other team members, and covering co-workers’ duties as needed.
