About The Position

As the Program Coordinator for the International Master of Environmental Policy (iMEP) program, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping the experience of future environmental leaders. This joint degree program, offered by the Nicholas School of the Environment and the Sanford School of Public Policy in partnership with Duke Kunshan University, brings together diverse minds to tackle the world’s most pressing environmental challenges. Position Overview This full-time, exempt role is based on Duke’s Durham campus with some flexibility for remote work. Occasional evening hours are required to accommodate international stakeholders, and travel may occur for recruitment and student services support.

Requirements

  • Experience working with students, faculty, or in higher education.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Cultural competency and ability to work across time zones; experience with international students is a plus.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset and ability to learn quickly.

  • Mandarin language skills are a bonus.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and communicate with DKU-based and Durham-based students prior to exchange semester on course registration, housing, visas, and onboarding.
  • Support registration-related matters during semesters when iMEP students are in residence at Duke; advise on courses and graduation requirements.
  • Plan and lead iMEP orientation, graduation, and community-building events.
  • Serve as frontline academic and professional advisor; connect students to campus resources.
  • Maintain program listserv and support career-service access in partnership with DKU-iMEP and NSOE/SSPP career teams.
  • Ensure accurate registration data, schedules, enrollment, bulletin listings, and grades; resolve discrepancies.
  • Collaborate with Faculty Lead on execution of MP II course in Durham, including weekly in-person classes and individual student meetings.
  • Manage program budget and expenses; assist with faculty visits between Duke and DKU.
  • Support annual SACS assessment and supervise student workers.
  • Manage international recruitment strategy with DKU and Duke teams.
  • Recruit and support NSOE/SSPP graduate students for semester-long study at DKU.
  • Host virtual information sessions and maintain Duke, DKU, and iMEP brand visibility.
  • Collaborate on marketing efforts, student stories, and social media.
  • Support recruitment-related event logistics and faculty travel planning (may include travel).
  • Serve on admissions review committee and communicate with prospective international applicants.
  • Lead development of new academic initiatives, including restructuring the iMEP 1-1 Year Study Option.
  • Support launch and management of the US–China Environmental and Climate Change Ph.D. Fellowship.
  • Drive programmatic continuous assessment and improvement efforts.
  • Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
