About The Position

Position Summary: The Program Coordinator shall plan, implement, and coordinate holistic programs for residents in the Memory Support Assisted Living. This position is responsible for developing varied therapeutic programs that meet the physical, emotional, cognitive, and spiritual needs of the residents and positively contributes to their quality of life. The Program Coordinator also serves as an integral part of an interdisciplinary team made up of (but not limited to) program coordinators, expressive therapists, nursing, culinary, administrative, and social service associates. Commit to providing the highest quality of preparation and presentation. Project a warm, friendly customer service-oriented approach and "can-do" attitude and strive to make every encounter with a resident into a positive and meaningful experience and opportunity. Accept responsibility for all tasks assigned. Follow all work and safety rules Commit to making contributions to fellow team members as needed Sensitive to issues of aging, needs of the memory loss resident and diverse populations and cultures. Ability to be flexible with work assignments, other departments, and schedule changes. Ability to follow written and spoken English. Ability to work as a team player, promoting good relations with other managers, co-workers, families and residents.

Requirements

  • 4-5 years satisfactory employment in a memory support community.
  • Must be creative, energetic, patient, sensitive, and professional.
  • Computer literacy; experience with Windows and Word.
  • Compassion for and desire to work with a senior population.
  • Experience in implementing programs intended to fulfill basic psychological, intellectual, physical, social, emotional and spiritual needs while promoting self-esteem in a caring, nurturing environment.
  • Ability to be flexible and autonomous in managing the workload.
  • Ability to communicate clearly, verbally and in writing.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement and lead programs that enrich residents' lives.
  • Contribute to orientation of new residents to the NewBridge community.
  • Follow through on program goals and objectives as established by the team.
  • Maintain an open line of communication with other staff, volunteers, interns, outside service providers, and families.
  • Support community outings.
  • Assess the residents' needs, interests, and abilities. Report any change in health or mental status.
  • Maintain the supply levels necessary for all future activities.
  • Interact with residents, families, guests and staff in a positive, supportive role.
  • Be available for weekends, holidays, and occasional evenings
  • Attend orientation, in-services, and staff meetings as assigned
  • Fulfill other duties and responsibilities as assigned, and accept changes in working venue, schedule, or tasks assigned.
