About The Position

The Program Coordinator will provide programmatic support for the Office of Professional Development and Career Planning, which oversees training programs in ethics, teaching, career development, communication, fellowships, and grant writing for approximately 2000 graduate students across 39 PhD programs, 9 Master’s programs, and 15 Certificate programs. This position reports to the Assistant Dean of Professional Development and Career Planning. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Works with the staff and with the leadership team at the Laney Graduate School to ensure the alignment and quality of the offerings to the “One Emory” vision and to advance the new LGS strategic plan. Supports the Assistant Dean and Associate Director for Professional Development and Career Planning in implementation of new programs, delivery of existing programs, and overall operations of the office. Organizes, coordinates, and manages projects and responsibilities related to the program, including coordinating departmental calendar of events, corresponding with visiting speakers and coaches, communicating with prospective attendees, and setting up and tearing down events. Manages all logistical arrangements for workshops, meetings, conferences, and travel. Specifically, manages all logistics for room reservations, catering, communications, and acting as event host. Supports research to identify factors that may impact the success of the program, including tracking and reporting of attendance, assessment, outcome, and financial data. Supports the development of the experiential learning initiative, including support for internships and short-term projects and simulations. Supports communication and marketing to increase graduate student awareness and participation in departmental activities. Works in collaboration with other partners (e.g. Student Affairs, Advancement and Alumni Engagement, Belonging, English Language Support Program, Office of Postdoctoral Education, Career Center, etc.). May represent the office at various conferences, meetings, or seminars, internal and external to Emory. Prepares and distributes operational, statistical, and financial reports, as requested. Ensures preparations are accurate and factual, and in compliance with federal and state regulations and/or institutional policies. Monitors departmental expenditures and ensures accurate and timely processing of expense reports, reimbursements and all related expenses for the Department. May serve on various University committees representing the office. May supervise program staff, interns, and/or volunteers. Performs related responsibilities, as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a field related to the program.
  • Two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with learning management systems (LMS) such as Canvas and/or project management systems such as AirTable or Asana
  • Experience with professional development and career planning
