About The Position

Join a dedicated team at the University of Wisconsin–Madison’s newest student support hub. As a Program Coordinator in the First-Generation and Limited-Income Services office, you will utilize your expertise to develop and implement programs that enhance the learning experience, sense of belonging, and overall success of first-generation and low-income (FGLI) students. You will lead the design, coordination, and delivery of initiatives aimed at building campuswide capacity to support FGLI Badgers. This role demonstrates a strong commitment to fostering a welcoming, equitable, and inclusive environment for students, colleagues, and campus partners.

Requirements

  • 1-2 years of experience in program coordination, event planning, and/or workshop facilitation in student affairs or related field
  • Exceptional interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities with precision and attention to detail
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and solve problems creatively, while collaborating effectively with varied stakeholders
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and familiarity with learning management systems such as Canvas
  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field (e.g., higher education administration, social work)

  • Knowledge of best practices in creating inclusive and welcoming environments for first-generation and limited-income students
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate across functional areas and contribute to a dynamic team environment
  • Experience with software platforms for registration, surveys, and communication (e.g., Constant Contact, Qualtrics, etc.)
  • Experience with University of Wisconsin policies, procedures, and administrative systems related to job functions
  • Master's degree in a relevant field (e.g., higher education administration, social work)

Responsibilities

  • Support, supervise, and actively mentor student interns, fostering their personal and professional development, while cultivating a collaborative and growth-oriented team environment
  • Generates and analyzes reports of curricular and unit outcomes
  • Creates and maintains schedules, logistics, and resources for one or multiple student affairs programs, activities, and/or services
  • Designs, implements, and evaluates programming, resources, and services that strengthen belonging, well being, and academic success for first-generation and limited-income students.
  • Proactively identifies structural and cultural barriers impacting FGLI student experiences and develops responsive, equity driven strategies to advance access, retention, and overall student thriving.
  • Writes, edits, and publishes content for various communication projects and marketing platforms to align with strategic initiatives and established communication campaigns
  • Develops programming, resources, and services to foster a sense of belonging, promote student well-being, and address barriers to success for first-gen and limited- income students
  • Organizes student-focused programming and resources to promote new and ongoing educational initiatives
  • Serves as a subject matter expert regarding student affairs to internal and external stakeholders
  • Provides high-quality support, supervision, and mentorship to student interns, intentionally fostering their personal, academic, and professional growth.
  • Cultivates a collaborative, identity affirming, and development focused team environment that empowers interns to meaningfully contribute to FGLI Services mission
