About The Position

Founded in 1965, the Chinese-American Planning Council, Inc. (CPC) aims to promote the social and economic empowerment of Chinese American, immigrant, and low-income communities. Today, CPC is the nation's largest Asian American social services agency and offers more than 50 programs at over 35 sites throughout New York City, including early childhood education, school-age care, youth services, workforce development, community services, and senior services. CPC strives to be the premier social service and leadership development organization. In 2017, CPC launched Advancing Our CommUNITY, its organization-wide strategy to expand services to address persistent needs and emerging trends and to improve leadership skills among staff and community members. CPC Queens Community Services (QCS) is seeking a highly motivated, detail-oriented individual with excellent communication skills to join our team. This position will provide duties to support program rollout in a multi-social service setting. This position will involve administrative work, supporting QCS programs by playing an integral role in organizing and maintaining office operations. Reporting to the QCS Deputy Director, the QCS Programs Coordinator is responsible for assisting program administrative tasks, daily operations, and other program support when assigned. Community projects will be part of the program support work, such as the annual AAPI Heritage fund raising benefit and other community-wide events.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in social science/ related field preferred
  • Experience working in and with immigrant communities
  • Strong work ethic and demonstrated passion for working with diverse populations
  • Excellent writing, interpersonal, analytical, and decision-making skills
  • Attention to detail and the ability to balance multiple projects and deadlines in an organized way
  • Effectively works with internal staff across departments and divisions and demonstrate ability to work efficiently in a team
  • Ability to plan and prioritize effectively
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and related platforms.

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual in English and Chinese - Mandarin and/or Cantonese (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Assist QCS Director and Deputy Director in prepping program reports, funding reports and other administrative procedures (ie: yellow forms, payment requests, reimbursements, spending tracking, etc.)
  • Attend and take minutes for internal meetings
  • Provide general administrative support throughout QCS including data entry, compiling distribution materials, and mailings
  • Supporting CPC at internal and external events (ie: staff appreciations, tabling at resource fairs, press conferences, rallies)
  • Other duties as assigned
