About The Position

The Program Monitor supervises children ages 16 and under, overseeing the building and grounds, and serving as a liaison between the community and the Mount Pleasant Recreation Department.

Requirements

  • High School diploma and some experience working with children; Or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • First Aid/ CPR, AED and Darkness To Light certifications/training are required within one year of employment.
  • Knowledge of the community and how it depends on the Mount Pleasant Recreation Department;
  • Skill in being well organized;
  • Skill in the use of communicating with people;
  • Ability to meet and deal with the public effectively and appropriately;
  • Ability to communicate clearly, both orally and in writing;
  • Ability to deal appropriately with town employees, town officials and the public;
  • Ability to get along well with children and parents;
  • Ability to interact with children on a daily basis.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises and interacts with children ages 16 and under, ensuring their safety and appropriate behavior while on the grounds of the community center.
  • Enforces rules, regulations and policies of the Mount Pleasant Recreation Department.
  • Resolves issues and solve problems as quickly as possible; reports results or refer unsolved problems to higher supervisor.
  • Clock in and out at the appropriate facility.
  • Call supervisor by 12 p.m. if not able to report to work at scheduled time.
  • Turns in monthly report by the 29th of each month; includes daily log sheets for that month.
  • Inspects playground once a week (by Thursday), completes playground report, and turns in to supervisor.
  • Turns in special events evaluation immediately after each event.
  • Reports damage that has occurred at the community center.
  • Files incident and/or injury reports when an incident or injury occurs at your center; contacts the program coordinator or recreation specialist immediately in such an event.
  • Keeps list of any repairs that need to be done and turn into supervisor.
  • Reports to supervisor any person using or having in their possession either drugs or alcohol.
  • Employees may be required to work beyond normal business hours in response to emergency situations or to attend evening meetings.
  • Performs other related assigned duties.
