About The Position

This Program Coordinator role at Texas Health Flower Mound focuses on Orthopedic, Bariatrics, and Joints programs. These programs are characterized by rapid growth and the utilization of advanced minimally invasive and robotic-assisted technologies to enhance patient outcomes and operational efficiency. Specifically, Bariatric services include robotic-assisted weight-loss procedures, and Orthopedics has expanded its use of robotic-assisted joint replacement surgery, positioning both programs at the forefront of innovation in North Texas. The position requires strong multidisciplinary collaboration, bringing together surgeons, advanced practice providers, nurses, care coordinators, dietitians, rehabilitation teams, and administrative partners. The Program Coordinator is crucial for aligning clinical workflows, patient education, scheduling, quality initiatives, and post-procedure follow-up across various teams and departments. The Bariatrics and Orthopedic teams are recognized for their comprehensive care pathways and strong patient outcomes, with bariatric patients experiencing significant improvements in weight-related health conditions and orthopedic patients benefiting from efficient outpatient surgical models designed for faster recovery and high patient satisfaction. Texas Health Flower Mound is a 99-bed facility with over 500 physicians, known for providing high-quality medical care.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing required
  • Minimum of three (3) years of clinical experience in an acute care setting required
  • Registered Nurse (RN) license upon hire required
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification required prior to providing independent patient care and must be maintained per policy
  • Strong problem‑solving and decision‑making skills
  • Effective planning, organization, and prioritization abilities
  • Knowledge of industry standards and ability to mobilize clinical and operational resources
  • Demonstrated clinical expertise with the ability to provide education and guidance to patients, staff, and stakeholders
  • Working knowledge of regulatory and compliance requirements
  • Experience with performance improvement and quality initiatives
  • Ability to support community outreach and education programs

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting multidisciplinary clinical teams preferred
  • Previous experience in program development, patient education, or discharge planning preferred

Responsibilities

  • Direct management of the "Program" and coordination of all services and inpatient and outpatient departments that interact with orthopedic surgery patients including: outpatient testing/education, day of surgery, operation room, recovery room, the orthopedic surgery inpatient unit, inpatient and outpatient PT/OT services, home health, etc.
  • Plans, coordinates, schedules, and implements care of the bariatric patient through all phases of obesity treatment including workup, surgery, recovery and readmission.
  • Provides staff with ongoing performance information, communicates concerns to nurse leader for appropriate counseling and/or corrective action.
  • In Collaboration with Hospital Administration, works with nursing leader to develops staff, have input with operating budgets; ensures appropriate utilization and maintenance of supplies and equipment.
  • Enforces standards of regulatory and accreditation agencies.
  • Aligning clinical workflows, patient education, scheduling, quality initiatives, and post-procedure follow-up across teams and departments.
