About The Position

The Program Coordinator Intern plays an essential role in supporting the operations and strategic development of Sotheby’s Institute of Art’s Professional Programs. Reporting to the Senior Program Manager, the intern will assist in program coordination, administrative operations and forward-looking planning initiatives across both the New York and London campuses. This is a five-week internship beginning May 26, 2026 (adjusted for the U.S. holiday on May 25). The intern is required to be on-site at 570 Lexington Avenue for the first three weeks of the internship. The remaining two weeks may include a combination of on-site and remote work, as determined by program needs. On May 27, 2026, the intern will be required to attend and support the execution of the Gavel event at an auction house in New York.

  • Maintain regular weekday (Monday–Friday) availability during core business hours (9am-5pm)
  • Be available to work on-site in New York as required, particularly during the first three weeks
  • Be available to work Tuesday evenings, especially during program delivery
  • Be available for local travel within New York City, as needed
  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a bachelor’s degree in art history, art business/management, or a related field
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, and navigate stairs for extended periods
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs
  • Ability to travel within the New York City area

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in educational programs, events, administration, digital learning, or data analysis is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Support in-person professional programs held on the New York campus, including Tuesday evening courses, intensive 5-day courses and other assigned programming
  • Assist with the coordination and execution of the May 27 Gavel event at a New York auction house
  • Liaise with students, faculty and guest speakers to ensure smooth program delivery
  • Work with the Senior Program Manager to support faculty onboarding, including: Coordinating communication with HR and faculty Tracking hiring documentation and required training completion
  • Maintain organized records of program materials and communications
  • Participate in team meetings and provide administrative and operational support as needed
  • Collaborate with the Senior Program Managers (London and New York-based) on program planning for the forthcoming academic year
  • Assist in mapping and developing new professional programs across both London and New York campuses
  • Communicate with faculty leads to confirm course offerings, schedules and availability
  • Support the review and analysis of prior-year program data to assess performance and inform future programming decisions
  • Contribute to optimizing the program portfolio in terms of content, scheduling, and audience demand across both campuses
  • Support the review and redevelopment of the online program portfolio as courses transition from instructor-led to self-paced formats
  • Review academic content to ensure accuracy, relevance, and alignment with learning objectives
  • Audit course materials and resources to confirm they are current and complete
  • Coordinate with faculty to support content updates and redevelopment needs
  • Liaise with the digital learning production team, including film crew, to schedule and facilitate faculty recordings
  • Track project timelines and milestones to ensure redevelopment projects are delivered on schedule
