About The Position

The Chambers-Grundy Center for Transformative Neuroscience, directed by Jeffrey L. Cummings, MD, ScD(HC), seeks a dynamic and innovative educator to lead and expand its educational initiatives in clinical trials and drug development. This position will play a key role in advancing the Center’s mission to foster workforce development, promote interdisciplinary collaboration, and build the planning, accreditation, and rollout of a new UNLV degree program in clinical trials and/or drug development that meet the growing needs of students, trainees, and professionals in Southern Nevada and UNLV. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience in educational program development, management and assessment, along with a strong interest in learning and teaching the specialized content of clinical trials and drug development for Alzheimer’s disease. The coordinator will design and implement certification and micro-certification programs for research coordinators, nurses, and other trial-related positions. Developing content, implements, and assessing seminars in drug development will be a key aspect of the position. Identifying and monitoring real-world experiences in clinical trials and drugs development is anticipated. In addition, the role will serve as a bridge between UNLV and community partners such as the Global Alzheimer’s Platform, ensuring Las Vegas becomes a hub for clinical trial education and training. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to secure grant support, contribute to the design of new degree programs, and develop innovative educational assessment techniques. This position is 100% grant funded and contingent on continued funding - GR17943 UNLV-Alzheimer's Disease and Related Dementias Innovation Incubator (InnovaTor). The program coordinator will be the principal individual in charge of operations for the continuation of the R25 Alzheimer's Disease and Related Disorders Innovation Incubator (INNOVATOR). The INNOVATOR has three main areas of focus including innovation and entrepreneurship, non-academic research-based careers, and academic drug development. Additionally, the coordinator will also lead all aspects of designing, developing, and implementing new educational curricula related to clinical trials and drug development. In addition to the seminars and experiences during this school year, there will be a one-week intensive immersion course on innovation and entrepreneurship held during the summer. A campus wide innovation day is planned annually for April 21st, global innovation day. An assessment program will evaluate the participants’ experiences and provide the basis for quality improvement of the program.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university
  • One (1) year of management, supervisory and related experience
  • An understanding of UNLV landscape in terms of schools, colleges and enterprises where INNOVATOR participants may be identified
  • Credentials must be obtained prior to the employment start date
