About The Position

The director of IT operations advises leadership on and implements the agreed upon operational direction of IT initiatives for both the Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine (KSOM) and its affiliated clinical practice, UNLV Health. The director is responsible for ensuring strategic goals of the unit are in alignment with the overall goals and values of the school and UNLV Health. The incumbent will manage a wide range of IT professionals and projects, requiring him/her to communicate clearly and effectively with both technical and non-technical colleagues. The director of IT operations must be capable of responding quickly to emerging issues and making programmatic data-driven decisions to achieve the stated goals. The incumbent is a member of the IT leadership team and must be capable of identifying needs, evaluating options and presenting solutions, including the fiscal impacts of recommendations. As a member of the leadership team, the director is expected to embody the values of the school and establish programs that continue to foster a culture of excellence, innovation, service, diversity, and integrity within the unit. Overseeing the IT operations of the both the school and UNLV Health, the director of IT operations will develop and maintain operational policies and procedures that are in alignment with industry standards and best practices. He/she will work closely with the director of IT security and to ensure all KSOM IT operations are compliant with all university, NSHE, HIPAA, PCI, and other regulatory policies. This position is actively involved in the IT strategy, design, implementation and maintenance for the school and UNLV Health.

Requirements

  • This position requires a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university as recognized by the United States Department of Education and/or the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and five (5) years of management, supervisory and related experience.
  • Credentials must be obtained prior to the employment start date.
