About The Position

The University of Nevada, Las Vegas invites applications for Post-Doctoral Scholar of ALS Stem Cell Research, Internal Medicine Department, Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine [R0150436] ROLE of the POSITION This position will conduct diverse physiological as well as molecular basic science studies related to stem cell biology and therapy for neurological conditions, especially amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, in mouse models. Will perform detailed in vivo physiological experiments with stem cell therapy in anesthetized as well as conscious mice, which will require both theoretical knowledge and extensive technical experience with neurological outcomes analysis. Some of these procedures and protocols will need to be modified as necessary. Will also perform molecular studies related to stem cell biology, which will include analysis of antigen expression by flow cytometry and microscopy, qPCR, biochemistry, and protein chemistry. Will also perform duties within the scope of the position while following federal and state laws and UNLV IACUC regulations. This position requires extensive experience with neurological and molecular studies and knowledge about stem cell biology and signaling.

Requirements

  • This position requires a PhD from an accredited college or university in an applicable field of training (e.g., Public Health, Anthropology, Sociology, Psychology or similar fields of Social Sciences) and 1-3 years of related experience .
  • Credentials must be obtained prior to the start of employment.
  • Neurological basic research experience in animal models
  • Extensive experience with physiological and molecular neurological studies will be considered equivalent

Responsibilities
