The primary purpose of a Program Coordinator III within the Ignition Interlock Unit of the North Carolina Division of Motor Vehicles (NCDMV) is to oversee and manage the state's Ignition Interlock Program, ensuring compliance with legal requirements, oversight of ignition interlock vendors and service providers, and facilitating communication between participants, legal entities, and government agencies. This role is crucial for maintaining public safety and supporting individuals seeking to reinstate their driving privileges following alcohol-related offenses.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an appropriately accredited institution and two (2) years of experience related to the area of assignment; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • working knowledge of the Ignition Interlock Program and/or working knowledge of Chapter 20 Motor Vehicle Laws.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of administrative law, due process, and North Carolina motor vehicle laws, policies, and administrative codes.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply legal standards and DMV regulations in quasi-judicial proceedings, ensuring fair and legally sound decisions.
  • Experience participating in or conducting formal administrative hearings or legal proceedings
  • Skilled in clearly and accurately communicating policies, procedures, and decisions using proper language, grammar, and spelling.
  • Demonstrated ability to convey complex information to a diverse clientele while maintaining professionalism, especially during contentious or sensitive interactions.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel, with experience supporting administrative functions and customer service processes.
