About The Position

The Program Coordinator II develops and manages programs that engage parents and families as partners in students’ academic and personal development. This position collaborates with campus departments and community partners to provide resources, foster meaningful connections, and promote student success through active family involvement. The salary is determined in accordance with the University’s compensation structure and will be commensurate with the candidates’ education and experience, within the assigned salary range for this position.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree from and accredited college in social work, psychology, sociology, public relations, education, or related field.
  • Four years of related experience.
  • Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.
  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
  • Verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to lift at least 20 pounds due to bulk food shipments.
  • Able to work evenings and/or weekends as needed.
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods, bend, and lift heavy objects.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience providing service and support to college students, including those in distress or with unmet basic needs.
  • Experience working with students' families.
  • At least three (3) years of experience in higher education, with progressively responsible roles supporting student success and engagement.
  • Experience coordinating family or parent outreach programs and leading initiatives that support student and family engagement.
  • Knowledge of student support theories and best practices in higher education.
  • Experience with community engagement and building support networks.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, including presentation, problem-solving, and conflict resolution abilities.
  • Excellent customer service and relationship management skills.
  • Strong planning, operational, and organizational abilities with attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the needs of economically and educationally disadvantaged populations.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the development and implementation of programs, services, and events aimed at supporting student success and engagement, including academic support, family engagement, psychosocial services, and student employment.
  • Build and maintain collaborative partnerships with campus departments, community organizations, and external agencies to enhance student and family support networks.
  • Lead the strategic planning and goal-setting process for Student Success and Family Engagement initiatives, aligning with institutional priorities.
  • Make recommendations regarding the allocation of resources and expenditure of funds to develop the department and programming budget.
  • Oversee assessment and reporting regarding student success outcomes, family engagement, and continuous improvement.
  • Oversee the planning and implementation of family engagement initiatives, ensuring programs reflect the needs and experiences of students and their families; support a student- and family-centered approach in program delivery with a strong focus on fostering a supportive and collaborative environment.
  • Develop, coordinate, and facilitate educational workshops, family orientation events, student success seminars, and collaborative campus activities to strengthen student and parent engagement.
  • Serve as a liaison to campus committees and task forces related to student wellness, retention, and family programming.
  • Strengthen partnerships with departments, academic colleges, and external agencies to support students in accessing both institutional and public benefits based on eligibility.
  • Maintain a case management system to track student referrals and connect them with campus resources, support programs, and services that promote retention, academic progress, and student well-being.
  • Provide personalized assistance and referrals to students and families related to campus and community resources.
  • Develop and disseminate educational and promotional materials (digital and print) to increase awareness and visibility of student success programs and family engagement opportunities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
