About The Position

The Student Academic Support Coordinator provides leadership, coordination, and oversight for Western Nevada College’s Testing Centers and Academic Coaching Program. This role manages daily operations, supervises staff, and ensures the delivery of secure, accessible, and student-centered testing services. In addition, the Coordinator develops, implements, and evaluates academic coaching initiatives that support student success and retention. Serving as a central point of contact for students, faculty, and external partners, the position ensures compliance with institutional policies and professional standards while fostering a welcoming and effective learning environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and two years of related professional experience.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted for the Bachelor's degree (i.e., AA+3 or 4 yrs related professional experience).

Responsibilities

  • Manages day-to-day operations of the Testing Center including scheduling, staffing, and maintaining a secure testing environment
  • Hires, trains, schedules, and supervises test center staff
  • Collaborates with faculty and academic departments to schedule exams, ensuring alignment with college policies and procedures
  • Monitors and troubleshoots technical issues related to test delivery and computer-based assessments
  • Ensures professional and welcoming testing environment to meet the needs of all students
  • Implements and enforces test security measures to safeguard the integrity of all testing
  • Collaborates with faculty and administration in investigating suspected breaches of testing security
  • Remains current with best practices in academic and certification testing
  • Draft, implement, and update policies and standard operating procedures for test administration, scheduling, accommodations, and security
  • Liaise with IT to maintain systems, integrate new testing platforms, and support remote/online proctoring
  • Interface with third-party test providers to schedule exams, obtain materials, maintain certifications, and ensure regulatory compliance
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for students, faculty, and external users regarding testing services, policies, fees, and scheduling
  • Serve as the HSE Testing Chief Examiner and schedule test dates and proctors while ensuring compliance with testing standards and regulations.
  • Promote testing services through internal and external channels in coordination with the Public Relations Office
  • Manage, maintain, and facilitate/proctor adult education placement and progress testing for community-based or credit-based programming.
  • Train proctors as needed or demand increases
  • Oversee day-to-day operations of the Academic Coaching program, in coordination with the Academic Support Supervisor—both in-person and online—and ensure alignment with institutional goals
  • Develop and implement policies, standard procedures, and best practices for effective Coaching support
  • Recruit, hire, train, schedule, supervise, and evaluate tutors (both peer and professional) and support staff
  • Provide ongoing professional development and conduct performance reviews.
  • Performs outreach to faculty and students to assess academic coaching needs
  • Recruits and trains academic coaches
  • Verifies academic coaches’ reporting of activities and timesheets
  • Develops academic coaching materials
  • Develops academic coaching workshops
  • Makes presentations to classes and faculty groups
  • May update academic coaching website information and content
  • Participates in the development of department/division projects, initiatives, and operations
  • Proactively identifies challenges, barriers, and areas of opportunity in the department; creates and implements solutions
  • Coordinates, implements, and schedules revenue-based adult education programming, including maintaining online platforms with academic coaching options
  • Manage self-supporting budget and ensure operating costs are covered with generated revenue
  • Utilize the established ROI model for pricing programming and sustain a 5-6% annual profit margin on this type of programming
  • Manage annual and multi-year operating budgets, including fee and revenue-generating accounts.
  • Assist the department director in establishing budgets and priorities to support institutional objectives.
  • Utilize institutional forms to complete budget plans
  • Oversee revenue-generating initiatives, including adult education programming.
  • Ensure revenue targets are met and provide recommendations on how to reinvest to enhance program capacity and innovation strategically
  • Monitor all expenditures to ensure appropriate use of funds and adherence to budgetary limits
  • Prepare and present comprehensive budget reports and performance summaries to internal leadership
  • Assist with evaluating and identifying cost-saving opportunities and process improvements
  • Programs Reporting - Captures academic coaching data, maintains current spreadsheets, and regularly reports on academic coaching program performance
  • Maintain systematic processes for gathering quantitative and qualitative data across all programs, including enrollment trends, completion rates, student outcomes, and budget utilization.
  • Ensure data integrity and accuracy
  • Conduct in-depth analysis of program data to assess effectiveness, identify trends, and evaluate progress toward established performance indicators and strategic goals.
  • Translate findings into actionable insights to support continuous program improvement
  • Develop, compile, and submit detailed quarterly and final narrative reports summarizing program performance, outcomes, and fiscal impact.
  • Highlight program achievements, challenges, and data-driven recommendations for ongoing development and sustainability.
  • Ensure timely and accurate submission of all required reports to internal leadership
  • Other duties as assigned, of the same level of complexity and responsibility
