About The Position

At the SCDMV we have an immediate opening for an out-going, dedicated, passionate and inspiring leader as a Branch Supervisor. Raise your hand if that's you! This position is located at the Lancaster Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) Branch Office in Lancaster, SC. Responsibilities of the Branch Supervisor II Serves as manager in the absence of the Branch Manager and is capable of performing the duties assigned to the Branch Office Supervisor including but not limited to the ability to direct, plan and coordinate the activities necessary for the day-to-day office operation of a branch office. Performs and assists with audits of offices and associated entities operating under the agency's enforcement areas. Hold office meetings and conducting training on behalf of office management to advise staff on new and existing policies and procedures. Provides oversite and direction for the operation of the offices knowledge and skills testing program and examiner utilization. Registers applicants for motor voter and/or selective service, if required. Reconciles daily activity reports to include bank detail and approves refund requests. Secures audited documents, petty cash fund and accountable monies on a day-to-day basis. Responsible for ensuring building is secure. Assists in the preparation of close of day bank deposit and for securing all monies in bank depository. Performs routine maintenance on equipment. Assists the general public by administering knowledge tests for all classes to include CDL, retrieving and responding to phone messages, email, and in-person with inquiries of driver and vehicle transactions. Maintains inventory of office supplies and prepares requisitions. Prepares inventories of all accountable items, monthly, quarterly, and yearly reports. Supervises all personnel matters such as hiring, performance appraisals and disciplinary actions. Monitors career programs to ensure employees meet requirements and needs. Counsels and reprimands employees. Completes human resource requirements for subordinate personnel including time entries/request in SCEIS. Trains all office personnel on various DMV transactions and procedures. Performs other duties as required by supervisor. The person holding this position may be required to relocate to an office within 30 miles of their home office if business needs require. This move cannot exceed 30 miles from the current office.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or equivalent and relevant program experience. An equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be accepted with prior approval.
  • Must complete a nationwide criminal background check to include fingerprints.
  • Required to successfully complete and administer all certifications of knowledge and skills testing relevant to assigned Branch Office, to include CDL knowledge skill tests, formal CDL Examiner Trainer Course, Introduction to CDL Licensing System, and Overview of the CDL Tests.
  • Knowledge of the principles, policies and procedures of the DMV.
  • Must have a valid South Carolina driver's license with a good driving record.
  • Computer skills required to perform job functions.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, multi-task, collect fees and train other employees.
  • Ability to deal courteously and effectively with the public.
  • Where applicable, successfully certified to administer all classifications of road testing to include, CDL Knowledge and Skills testing, must complete a formal CDL test examiner trainer course and examination.
  • Reports directly to the Branch Manager.
  • Capable of working independently, guiding others in their work schedules, and communicating with manager on significant issues.
  • Must be able to make decisions that are in the best interest of the agency to provide the highest level of customer service.
  • Inside tasks are performed in climate-controlled office environment, exposure to extreme temperatures for road tests.
  • Physical skills include lifting up to 50 lbs., reaching, standing, sitting and climbing.
  • Must attend required training, meetings or workshops.
  • This is an exempt position and may require you to work outside of normal hours of operations.
